Age pressure when leaving the city to return to the countryside to find work
After many years of working in Ho Chi Minh City, many workers are forced to return to their hometowns due to family circumstances, leading to great worries about age when looking for new jobs in the locality.
Mr. Tran Chi Khai (43 years old) used to work for many years in industrial parks in Ho Chi Minh City, but because his parents were old and weak, he decided to return to his hometown for convenient care, although he was very worried about job opportunities.
At that time, I thought I was over 40 years old, it would be difficult to find a job because many companies often prioritize young workers. But family circumstances forced me to go home, there was no other choice," Mr. Khai shared.
After a period of searching, Mr. Khai was hired to work at Lefaso Tra Vinh Industrial Investment and Production Joint Stock Company (Tra Cu commune, Vinh Long province), with a job suitable for his skills, stable income, helping him to be assured and stick with it for a long time.

Similarly, Ms. Le Thi Tham (42 years old) also left Ho Chi Minh City to return to her hometown due to the pressure of high living costs, children reaching school age and needing a more stable living environment, close to family.
Ms. Tham said that when she quit her job in the city, she always thought in her head that when she returned to her hometown, whoever hired her to do what job (freelance job), because most companies previously limited the recruitment age to below 40. While her health and experience still well met the job requirements.
After many applications, she was accepted to work at Furukawa Automotive Systems Vinh Long Vietnam Co., Ltd., with a suitable job, stable environment and being able to stick with her family for a long time.
Not only the above two cases, many older workers also leave the city due to increased costs, life pressure or wanting to work near their families. However, returning to their hometown was once a risky choice when they faced recruitment barriers, especially age limits.
Businesses extend recruitment age
According to Mr. Nguyen Van Be Hai - Chairman of the grassroots trade union of Furukawa Automotive Systems Vinh Long Vietnam Co., Ltd., the demand for labor recruitment at enterprises is increasing sharply due to order recovery.
Currently, the company recruits about 120 female workers each week to meet production progress, in which the recruitment age has been relaxed compared to before to attract more labor.
If previously the company only recruited workers under 40 years old, now it has increased to 43 years old, creating conditions for many older workers to have the opportunity to return to the labor market," Mr. Be Hai said.

Meanwhile, Mr. Le Duy Khuong - General Director of Lefaso Tra Vinh Industrial Investment and Production JSC said that the enterprise currently recruits workers aged 18 and over, without age limits.
The company prioritizes workers with sewing skills and work experience, with salaries agreed upon according to their capacity, helping workers feel secure and stick with the business for a long time.
According to Mr. Khuong, in the context of a labor market still lacking, expanding the recruitment age is a necessary solution to maintain stable production and ensure order progress.
Reality shows that the fear of unemployment for older workers is gradually being relieved when businesses flexibly recruit in the context of production recovery. A stable job helps them ensure income, take care of their families and stick with the locality.
Vinh Long Provincial Department of Home Affairs said that it needs 29,238 workers, including 2,664 skilled workers and 26,574 unskilled workers, mainly concentrated in Binh Minh, Hoa Phu, and Giao Long IPs.
