Excited to receive increased support
Ms. Nguyen Thi Ngoc Chinh - a worker at Nidec Vietnam Company (Ho Chi Minh City High-Tech Park) - said that her child over 4 years old is being sent to a kindergarten in a high-tech park near the company. For many years, at the beginning of the new school year, she has submitted documents to the grassroots union to confirm that she is working at the company and was given procedures by the school to receive a cost of 160,000 VND/month supported by Ho Chi Minh City.
I feel happy that Ho Chi Minh City has increased the support level by 240,000 VND/child/month. Although the amount of money is not much, it shows the concern of the Ho Chi Minh City government for workers, said Ms. Chinh.
Similarly, Mr. Nguyen Duc Tung - production management department of Nidec Vietnam Company - also said that he has a one-year-old child sent to a private kindergarten near the company. He also asked the union to confirm that he was working at the company and that the school had completed the procedures to receive support from Ho Chi Minh City and deducted it from the monthly childcare expenses.
"While everything is increasing in price, Ho Chi Minh City's additional support for workers' children is a practical thing and we are very excited," said Mr. Tung.
Ms. Vong Tinh My - a worker at PouYuen Vietnam Co., Ltd. - said that she has a child over 3 years old. For more than 2 years, since sending her child to the company's Sun Kindergarten, she has received support from Ho Chi Minh City of 160,000 VND/month and support from the company. Each month, she only has to pay 1.6 million VND for her child's food and drink, the rest is supported by the company.
"Compared to sending children outside, the cost of sending children to the company's school is only half. Now that Ho Chi Minh City has provided additional additional expenses, we are very happy, said Ms. My.
Good policies for education
Mr. Cu Phat Nghiep - Chairman of the Trade Union of PouYuen Vietnam Co., Ltd. - said that the company has nearly 41,000 workers. Since 2012, the company has spent about 2 million USD to build Sun Kindergarten to care for and raise children of the company's workers.
Currently, the company is still supporting about 18,000 children under 6 years old who are children of workers at the company with 150,000 VND/child/month per month. Sun Kindergarten is raising about 400 children who are children of workers and the workers only have to pay for their meals, and the teachers' salaries and other expenses are paid by the agency.
HCMC's increase in support for children of workers and laborers working in industrial parks and places with a large concentration of labor is a very good policy for education, helping workers save costs and receive high consensus from union members and laborers, said Mr. Nghiep.
