Warming the heart of a garbage sweeper
In the days leading up to Tet, when the streets are bustling with shopping and cleaning, environmental sanitation workers enter the peak of work. The amount of waste is increasing, many central roads and markets are always crowded. Amidst that busy spring atmosphere, they are still diligently sweeping from early morning until late at night.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Hong, a garbage sweeper with more than 8 years of attachment to the profession, said that at the end of the year, the workload increases a lot, and some days she has to work overtime continuously. Receiving Tet gifts and bonuses from the company and the grassroots Trade Union, she feels warm-hearted.
According to Ms. Hong, although the gift is not of great value, it shows the sincere concern of the business and the Trade Union organization. That timely encouragement helps workers feel recognized, adding motivation to stick with the job for a long time.

Not only Ms. Hong, many workers also share the joy in the days leading up to Tet. Mr. Tran Van Phuc - a garbage collector in the central area - said that all workers and union members are rewarded and given Tet gifts.
Mr. Phuc shared that the additional support helps his family reduce year-end spending pressure. What he cherishes more is the visits and direct encouragement from leaders and the Trade Union, making workers feel that their efforts are recognized.
Those simple confidences show that timely care has added motivation for workers to feel secure in their work, contributing to keeping streets clean and beautiful in the first days of the new year.
Joining hands to prepare for a prosperous Tet
Talking to Lao Dong Newspaper, Mr. Nguyen Van Thuan - Director of Vinh Long Public Works Joint Stock Company - said that at the unit, the work of caring for workers always goes hand in hand with production and business tasks.
Last year, the company's revenue reached 52.6 billion VND; pre-tax profit 1.3 billion VND; budget contribution 5.2 billion VND. Currently, the company has 173 employees, with an average income of about 5.9 million VND/person/month.
According to Mr. Thuan, during Tet, the collection and transportation of garbage, garbage pulling and garbage sweeping departments still work normally according to the assigned daily tasks. The unit organizes garbage collection on all roads in the old Mang Thit district and old Tam Binh district, including arising points, ensuring to collect all garbage, not letting it accumulate overnight causing environmental pollution.

Mr. Thuan emphasized that, in addition to maintaining operations throughout Tet, the company coordinates with the grassroots Trade Union to organize Tet bonuses and gifts for all workers and union members. Cases with difficult circumstances are reviewed for further support, ensuring that everyone has conditions to welcome spring more fully and adequately.
The duty schedule is arranged reasonably, and those working on New Year's Eve and the first days of the year are arranged for appropriate compensatory leave. "Caring for workers is not only a responsibility but also a tribute to the silent contributions of brothers and sisters," Mr. Thuan affirmed.
Spring comes to each clean and beautiful street. And for street sweepers, spring also comes from the sincere care of the Trade Union and businesses - a source of encouragement for them to continue to stick with the profession, silently preserving the urban appearance every day.
