On the afternoon of June 23, in Ca Mau, the Emulation Cluster of the Southern Labor Federation of provinces organized a conference to summarize the activities of the first 6 months of 2026. Ms. Thai Thu Xuong - Vice President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor attended and directed the conference.
Speaking to direct, Ms. Thai Thu Xuong requested trade union levels in the Southern Emulation Cluster to continue to promote the achieved results, and at the same time focus on overcoming shortcomings and limitations in the operation process.
The Vice President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor especially noted the work of developing union members, establishing grassroots trade unions and caring for the material and spiritual life of union members and workers. Along with that, the team of trade union officials needs to be standardized and improve professional qualifications to meet the increasing requirements in the new situation.
Ms. Thai Thu Xuong also requested the Labor Federations in the activity cluster to go into substance, create clear effectiveness at the grassroots level, and contribute to enhancing the role and position of trade union organizations in the new development stage of the country.
According to the report at the conference, in the first 6 months of the year, trade union levels in the Southern Emulation Cluster achieved many positive results. The entire cluster developed 67,641 new union members, reaching 46% of the annual target; newly established 208 grassroots trade unions, raising the total number of grassroots trade unions to 7,136 units. In which, the non-state sector has 5,203 grassroots trade unions, continuing to play an important role in gathering and protecting workers.
The work of caring for union members and workers continues to be concerned. Trade union levels in the cluster have supported over 300,000 union members and workers with a total budget of over 500 billion VND through welfare programs, social security and practical support activities.
Speaking to welcome the conference, Mr. Bui Tan Bay - Member of the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee, Vice Chairman of the People's Council of Ca Mau province - said that the implementation of the two-level local government model, arranging administrative units and restructuring the economy will create major changes in labor organization, job structure and requirements for human resource quality.
In that context, the trade union organization needs to continue to strongly innovate the content and methods of operation; proactively adapt to new development requirements; affirm its role as a bridge between the Party, State and union members and workers. At the same time, perform well the function of representing, caring for, and protecting the legitimate and lawful rights and interests of union members; actively participate in building harmonious, stable and progressive labor relations.
Mr. Bui Tan Bay also proposed that trade union levels promote digital transformation in operations; focus on building a team of modern workers with professional qualifications, high professional skills, industrial style and good discipline; widely deploy the emulation movement "Good labor, high productivity, good income" launched by the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor.
At the conference, representatives of the Labor Federations in the cluster exchanged experiences, shared many effective models and ways of working in developing union members, building grassroots trade unions and organizing emulation movements... Many opinions also proposed solutions to remove difficulties and obstacles in order to build an increasingly strong trade union organization, meeting development requirements in the new stage.
In the emulation movement, Vinh Long Provincial Labor Federation was awarded the Emulation Flag by the Government, and the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor awarded Certificates of Merit to 2 Labor Federations of Dong Thap province and Ca Mau Provincial Labor Federation.
