Rectifying overtime
Over the past time, close coordination between Lao Dong Newspaper and Hai Phong City Labor Federation has contributed to protecting the legitimate rights and interests of workers, especially in cases related to working hours and overtime at enterprises.
In March 2026, Lao Dong Newspaper received a reflection from workers of Vinh Han Precision Technology Co., Ltd. about the enterprise putting pressure on employees to go to work on Sundays - weekly holidays. Immediately after the information was posted, the Hai Phong City Labor Federation quickly intervened, coordinated with the grassroots trade union and the enterprise to verify the reflected content. The enterprise then committed to comply with the provisions of law, ensuring the right to choose of employees when participating in overtime work.
Recently, Lao Dong Newspaper continued to receive feedback from workers of Aachen Optical Fiber Conec Technology Co., Ltd. (Do Son Industrial Park) about the enterprise requiring employees to work continuously 7 days/week, not to take Sundays off, and showing signs of prolonged overtime pressure. Immediately after receiving the information, Lao Dong Newspaper reporters coordinated with the grassroots Trade Union and the Trade Union Board of Hai Phong Industrial Park to verify the case. From the press's feedback, the Trade Union organization has checked the arrangement of working hours, rest hours, compared records related to overtime work and requested the enterprise to review and properly implement the provisions of labor law.
After that, the enterprise issued a notice affirming that it is not allowed to force employees to work overtime, and at the same time committed to strictly handling violations. Representatives of the Trade Union Board of Hai Phong Industrial Park said that immediately after that, the enterprise adjusted the arrangement of overtime in a more appropriate direction, ensuring the health and rights of employees.
Not stopping at handling each specific case, from the practical reflections of workers and information published in Lao Dong Newspaper, Hai Phong City Labor Federation has issued documents to rectify the situation of organizing overtime work not in accordance with regulations at enterprises. The city's Trade Union requests units to seriously implement regulations on working hours and rest hours; strictly prohibit acts of coercion, threat or retaliation against employees when they do not agree to work overtime.
Important information channel of the Trade Union organization
Mr. Nguyen Hong Quang - Deputy Head of the Industrial Zone Trade Union Committee, Hai Phong City Labor Federation - said that the coordination relationship between the Industrial Zone Trade Union Committee and Lao Dong Newspaper has been maintained closely and effectively for many years.
Besides propagating the Party's guidelines, policies, laws of the State and Trade Union activities, information and reflections from Lao Dong Newspaper have become an important source of information, helping the Trade Union organization promptly grasp the thoughts and aspirations of employees as well as issues arising in labor relations at enterprises.
According to Mr. Quang, from the reflections of Lao Dong Newspaper, the Industrial Park Trade Union has a basis to quickly verify and work with businesses and related agencies to protect the legitimate and lawful rights and interests of union members and workers. Many cases after being reflected in the press have created a spreading effect in public opinion, promoting businesses to review and overcome shortcomings in the labor use process, contributing to building a harmonious, stable and progressive working environment.
In the coming time, Hai Phong will continue to promote investment attraction, expand industrial parks and economic zones, leading to a rapid increase in the labor force. This also poses many new requirements for building harmonious labor relations, preventing labor disputes, ensuring working conditions, wages, welfare and social security for workers.
Faced with that requirement, the Industrial Park Trade Union Committee wishes to continue to receive the companionship of Lao Dong Newspaper in promptly reflecting the reality of workers' lives, the inadequacies arising at enterprises, and at the same time spreading good models and good practices in caring for and protecting employees. Thereby, contributing to building stable and progressive labor relations, creating a foundation for the sustainable development of the business community and Hai Phong City.
