Listen directly, resolve on the spot
According to the plan just issued by the Da Nang City Labor Federation, the meeting and dialogue between representatives of the Standing Committee of the City Party Committee, Chairman of the Da Nang City People's Committee, leaders of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor and workers will take place on May 9, 2026.
The conference is expected to have the participation of about 400 trade union officials, union members and workers from grassroots trade unions, boarding houses and self-managed worker groups.
This is one of the key activities in Workers' Month and Action Month on Occupational Safety and Health in 2026.
The goal is to, through meetings and dialogues, allow heads of city Party committees and authorities to directly listen to the thoughts, aspirations, and opinions reflected and recommendations of trade union officials, union members and workers; promptly direct the resolution or propose to competent authorities to consider and handle difficulties and obstacles arising in practice.
Promoting the rights and responsibilities of the Trade Union organization, combined with timely resolving problems in implementing regimes and policies for union members and workers; propagating and disseminating labor laws, trade unions, social insurance... for trade union officials, union members, and workers to improve their understanding and update information and legal knowledge in a timely manner.
A noteworthy point of this conference is the open organization form, allowing trade union officials, union members and workers to directly ask questions to leaders, or send proposals in advance for synthesis. Complex issues will be recorded and answered in writing later, ensuring no omissions of any opinions.
According to Mr. Le Van Dai - Standing Vice Chairman of the Da Nang City Labor Federation, the organization of dialogues is not only aimed at resolving specific recommendations but also contributes to raising legal awareness, helping workers be more proactive in protecting their rights.
Direct dialogue helps leaders grasp reality more closely, while creating trust for workers when their voices are heard and responded clearly," Mr. Le Van Dai emphasized.
Focusing on "hot" issues of workers
According to the plan of the Da Nang City Labor Federation, the content of the dialogue is identified quite comprehensively, covering core issues in workers' lives today. Among them, prominent are policies related to working conditions, occupational safety and health, social housing, wages, insurance and social security.
Notably, issues of housing for workers, loans, vocational training and job conversion were also included in the discussion content. These are not new stories, but they are always a major bottleneck in industrial cities like Da Nang.
In addition, the conference also mentioned building a safer living and working environment in industrial parks, from security and order, traffic to environmental sanitation and food safety. This is a systematic approach, instead of just focusing on labor relations within the enterprise.
Another important content is the mechanism to protect the rights and interests of trade union officials and employees when violated. The inclusion of this content in the dialogue program shows that the representative role of the trade union organization is being emphasized more clearly, not only in support but also in protection.
From a management perspective, dialogue is an opportunity for the government and functional agencies to review inadequacies in policies, especially issues related to social security and welfare for workers.
In the context of rapid urbanization and increasing labor force, dialogues like this are a way to build a harmonious, sustainable and progressive labor market, a goal that all labor policies aim for.
