On January 15, the Provincial Red Cross Society, the Standing Agency of the Provincial Steering Committee for Voluntary Blood Donation Mobilization, in coordination with the An Giang Provincial Labor Federation (LDLD), organized the Launching Ceremony of the Voluntary Blood Donation Mobilization Campaign during Tet and the "Spring Rose Festival" in 2026.
Speaking at the ceremony, Ms. Nguyen Thi Minh Thuy - Vice Chairwoman of the Provincial People's Committee, Head of the Steering Committee for Voluntary Blood Donation Mobilization of An Giang province - said: The campaign to mobilize voluntary blood donation during Tet and "Xuan Hong Festival" in 2026 is implemented with the message "Blood donation at the beginning of spring - Multiplying happiness", taking place from January 15, 2026 to March 15, 2026, striving to mobilize over 9,800 people to register for blood donation and receive from 9,300 units of blood or more. Thereby, to ensure a safe and stable blood source to serve emergency and treatment for people before, during and after the Lunar New Year, and to prevent localized blood shortages.
Through many years of implementation, the "Xuan Hong Festival" has become an annual activity with profound humanistic significance, an important highlight of the voluntary blood donation movement in the province. In 2025 alone, the provincial-level "Xuan Hong Festival" attracted over 500 volunteers to participate, receiving 420 units of blood. After the launching ceremony, many agencies, units, and localities proactively organized blood donation drives, making an important contribution to emergency and treatment for patients. However, the demand for blood use in the province is still very large, especially during Tet and peak summer, the risk of localized blood shortages still occurs.
The Vice Chairman of An Giang Provincial People's Committee proposed to promote propaganda and mobilization of voluntary blood donation in many practical and effective forms; making the voluntary blood donation movement truly become a regular and self-conscious activity of each official, union member, association member and people.
I call on union members, youth, volunteers and people throughout the province to actively respond to the message "Blood donation at the beginning of spring - Multiplying happiness", not only at today's Festival but at all times of the year, because each drop of blood given is an additional life opportunity for patients," Ms. Thuy emphasized.
Mr. Do Tran Thinh - Vice Chairman of the Provincial Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee, Chairman of the An Giang Provincial Labor Federation - said that in recent years, the Trade Union levels of An Giang province have always been pioneers, considering voluntary blood donation not only as a responsibility, but also as a command from the heart of each union member and employee.
2026 is the year we continue to promote patriotic emulation movements, build strong Trade Union organizations. There is no greater action than sharing life. Every drop of blood you give today will be a hope to light up a family, a bridge to extend life for poor patients," Mr. Thinh emphasized.
On behalf of the Standing Committee of the An Giang Provincial Labor Federation, Mr. Do Tran Thinh officially launched a response and called on all officials, union members, and workers throughout the province to promote the spirit of mutual affection and actively register to participate in blood donation at the 2026 Red Spring Festival.
Each union member is a propagandist, spreading the noble meaning of the message "Blood donation saves people - Your life and mine". Turning the voluntary blood donation movement into a regular and practical activity in grassroots trade unions, contributing with the Provincial Steering Committee to mobilize voluntary blood donation and the health sector to ensure blood reserves for emergency and treatment.
