To let the voices of workers resonate

Thanh Chương |

After stressful working hours, cultural and artistic activities jointly implemented by the Trade Union organization in many localities are becoming an important spiritual support, helping workers and laborers relax, interact, connect and gain more motivation to stick with businesses.

After-works playground for workers

In many industrial parks, workers' rhythm of life often starts very early and ends when it is dark. Long shifts, pressure on productivity, living costs, rent, children, and family make many workers less likely to access true cultural and entertainment activities. For many workers, the time after work is only spent in a cramped rented room, a quick meal and sleep to regain strength for the next working day.

Therefore, cultural programs, singing contests, sports festivals, and collective exchanges organized right at businesses and industrial parks are very practical. It's not just a few singing and dancing performances, a few lucky draw gifts, or a fun exchange. It's an opportunity for workers to step out of a monotonous working rhythm, show their talents, and meet colleagues in a more relaxed, cheerful, and sharing space.

In Tay Ninh, recently, the grassroots Trade Union of Ching Luh Vietnam Footwear Co., Ltd. organized an exchange and art program for more than 16,000 workers. The program has the participation of many singers and artists, along with lucky draws with practical gifts such as electric motorbikes, TVs, washing machines, household appliances. For workers, it is a real festival, where they can entertain, be encouraged, and feel the care from businesses and the Trade Union organization.

A worker of the enterprise shared that working in the factory all year round makes it very fun for the company to organize art performances and exchanges like this; workers are both entertained and have more motivation to work. That simple saying shows that the spiritual needs of workers are very real, very ordinary, and also need to be taken care of in a methodical way.

Recently, right in Workers' Month 2026, in Ninh Binh, singing contests for workers in industrial parks and clusters attracted many union members and workers to participate. There was a contest gathering 15 delegations with nearly 180 workers from 15 grassroots trade unions, bringing 28 singing and dancing performances. The content of the performances praised the Party, Uncle Ho, homeland, country, the tradition of the working class and the Vietnam Trade Union organization.

These figures show that the arts and culture movement among workers is no longer a small-scale, spontaneous activity, but has been organized into a playground with a scale, theme, and clear goals. Workers not only come to watch but are also creative subjects, perform, participate and spread emulation atmosphere. From that stage, the spirit of solidarity, professional pride and the sense of attachment to the Trade Union organization are cultivated more naturally.

What is precious is that behind each performance is the preparation of workers who are already very busy with professional work. They take advantage of practicing after work hours, arranging time, coordinating with colleagues, overcoming shyness to stand on stage. That process helps to form team spirit, coordination, responsibility and common joy.

In localities with many workers, especially industrial parks and export processing zones, the cultural life of workers is always an issue that needs to be concerned about. If there is a lack of healthy playgrounds, workers are very likely to fall into a state of fatigue, withdrawal, and little community interaction. Cultural programs, sports festivals, workers' festivals, and collective exchanges therefore have the effect of "spiritual rest", helping workers to be more balanced after production pressure.

The organizational and connecting role of the Trade Union

In cultural and artistic activities for workers, the role of the Trade Union organization is clearly shown. The Trade Union is a unit that understands the needs of workers, is close to the grassroots level, and understands the specific characteristics of each enterprise and each industrial park. From there, the Trade Union can advise and coordinate with businesses, local authorities, and industrial park management units to organize appropriate programs.

That role is not only to organize a contest or an exchange. Trade unions are also a bridge for businesses to better understand the meaning of caring for the spiritual life of workers. A business that cares about culture, arts, sports, and spiritual welfare will have a friendlier working environment, workers will be more secure, more attached, and have more motivation to contribute.

Reality at Ching Luh Vietnam Footwear Co., Ltd. shows that the art program not only creates a joyful atmosphere but also helps workers feel cared for both materially and spiritually. When workers feel care, they will look at the business and the Trade Union organization with more trust. That is an important foundation for building harmonious, stable, and progressive labor relations.

Trade unions also play a role in discovering and fostering cultural and artistic core in workers. In many businesses, there are workers who sing well, dance beautifully, host programs well, play musical instruments, and stage performances, but previously there was no environment to perform. Through festivals, competitions, and art clubs, those talents are sparked and spread, enriching the cultural life at the grassroots level.

Improving the cultural and artistic life of workers needs to be considered an important part of building a sustainable working environment. Trade unions at all levels need to continue to include this content in their regular work programs, not just organized seasonally or on anniversaries. Each industrial park should have more playgrounds, living spaces, cultural and sports clubs; each business should coordinate with trade unions to maintain activities suitable for shifts, production conditions and the actual needs of workers.

The cultural and artistic movement among workers not only beautifies the spiritual life at the grassroots level, but also contributes to building the image of workers in the new era: dynamic, creative, confident, loving labor, loving life and attached to the collective. From simple stages in industrial parks, workers' singing carries joy, pride and aspiration to rise up.

In the new period, when the requirements for productivity, discipline, and skills are increasingly high, workers need to be cared for more comprehensively. Caring for culture and arts is not an auxiliary activity, but a part of caring for people. A worker with a rich spiritual life will have more positive energy to work, study, create and stick with for a long time.

From festivals, competitions, and cultural exchange programs, it has been shown that when the Trade Union actively participates, the spiritual life of workers will have more colors. And when singing and laughter echo after working shifts, it is also when the careful role of the Trade Union organization is expressed in the most close, practical and humane way.
