Having been attached to work for many years at a seafood processing enterprise in Cai Rang ward, Can Tho city, Ms. Nguyen Thi My Duyen said that the time for her family is always something she is concerned about. Because of busy work, frequent overtime, the occasions of returning to visit relatives or spending full time with children are not many.
Therefore, Ms. Duyen expressed her agreement with the proposal to add 2 days off on National Day. According to her, if there is more rest time, workers will have the opportunity to return to their hometown to visit their parents, bring their children back to reunite with their grandparents, or simply rest after months of continuous work.
Most workers are busy with work, overtime, so they have very little time for their children and parents. If there are longer holidays, we can take our children to visit grandparents or simply rest to regain health" - Ms. Duyen shared.

Sharing the same view, Mr. Tran Van Hau - a worker working at Tra Noc Industrial Park - said that he is from An Giang province and has been working in Can Tho for many years.
According to him, workers working in a production environment often face pressure on order progress, especially during peak periods, so they really need reasonable rest periods.
Mr. Hau believes that adding days off does not reduce labor productivity but on the contrary, helps workers have a better spirit when returning to work. When they are fully rested, workers will have conditions to recover their health, balance their lives and work more effectively.
Many times when there are many orders, workers have to work overtime continuously, so it is very stressful. Having more rest time will help workers recover their health, reduce stress and work more efficiently" - Mr. Hau said.
Talking to Lao Dong Newspaper, labor - trade union expert, lawyer Le Dinh Quang said that along with the institutionalization of Vietnam Culture Day November 24, civil servants, public employees and laborers are expected to have 12 days off in 2026.
However, this number of days off is still at a low average compared to many countries in the world and in the region.

According to Mr. Quang, increasing holidays will help workers rest, regenerate labor, have more time to take care of their families, and at the same time contribute to stimulating the development of service industries.
He believes that in the context of increasingly developing science and technology, labor productivity depends more on management level, technology application and human resource quality than prolonging working hours.
There is a solid basis to reduce working hours, increase days off but still ensure the goal of increasing labor productivity. When there is more rest time, workers also have conditions to study and improve their skills, thereby contributing more effectively to businesses and the economy" - Mr. Quang assessed.
Previously, at a press conference to inform about the results of the 14th Vietnam Trade Union Congress, Vice President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor Ngo Duy Hieu said that the number of holidays in Vietnam is still lower than the general level of many countries in the region.
According to him, adding 2 days off on National Day will help workers have more time to rest, take care of their families, regenerate labor, and at the same time contribute to stimulating consumer demand and promoting tourism and service development.
