Mr. Le Quang Trung - former Deputy Director in charge of the Department of Employment - said that Gen Z is becoming the core labor force, bringing a breath of fresh air to the market thanks to its dynamism, creative thinking and superior technology adaptation ability. However, to meet the strict and rapidly changing requirements of the modern market, this generation is facing increasingly high demands in terms of both qualifications and working attitude.
In terms of qualifications, Mr. Trung said that a university degree or purely professional qualification is no longer a "shield" to ensure jobs. Current employers require Gen Z personnel to possess an integrated skill set: Technology/AI application capacity, critical thinking, soft skills and especially real-world foreign language proficiency.
Notably, the key factor that Mr. Le Quang Trung emphasized is labor awareness and discipline. Despite possessing many strengths, a part of Gen Z still faces limitations in long-term commitment, poor pressure tolerance and the tendency to "job-hop" too quickly when encountering problems.
The modern labor market prioritizes personnel with a professional attitude, high sense of responsibility, who know how to listen and have the ability to integrate into corporate culture. Gen Z needs to harmonize between the personal "ego" and the common goals of the organization. Proactively practicing industrial style, accumulating practical experience and a receptive attitude is the "key" to help young people affirm their self-worth and open up sustainable career advancement opportunities" - Mr. Trung said.
According to Mr. Tran Long Giang - Director of Thang Long Architecture Investment Joint Stock Company (Ha Dong ward, Hanoi City), Gen Z, especially the force of new graduates, is currently facing great career opportunities as the labor market enters a period of strong digital transformation and greening. The sensitivity to technology, innovative thinking and the spirit of daring to think and dare to do help this young force quickly adapt to modern working models. However, open opportunities also come with increasingly strict recruitment standards from businesses.
On the employer side, Mr. Giang said that businesses no longer place too much emphasis on pure technical theory but prioritize Gen Z personnel that meet the trio of factors: technological capacity, combative work ability and professional working attitude. The combination of design thinking, specialized software/AI application skills and high labor discipline is the core requirement. Businesses are ready to create conditions for development and provide good benefits to young personnel with a spirit of receptiveness, commitment to commitment and proactive learning to solve practical problems.
Assessing market demand, Mr. Tran Long Giang said that there are currently many core industries facing a shortage of high-quality young personnel. For example, the architecture - construction & interior design industry currently lacks Gen Z personnel who are both proficient in professional knowledge and proficient in modern modeling and space simulation technologies (such as BIM, 3D rendering integrated AI); the information technology & digital marketing industry is thirsty for young personnel capable of analyzing data, optimizing digital tools and creating creative content; the technology engineering & operation management industry also needs a position as a field engineer, technical supervisor and project manager.
