Insomnia because of happiness
At dusk, in the house that had just been handed over not long ago in Loc An commune (Hue City), Ms. Vo Thi Tram carefully prepared dinner for the family. The meal was still simple with a bowl of soup, a plate of vegetables, and a few familiar braised fish like before. But for Ms. Tram, today's meal seemed to be more delicious, because she ate in a new, solid, bright house, without the scene of rain and wind blowing every time the weather changes.
After successive natural disasters, Ms. Tram's old house was almost unable to be sheltered. "My house was heavily damaged, at times it seemed impossible to recover. Thanks to the support of the Party and the State, we finally got a safe place to live. Near Tet, we haven't bought much, but this is enough, sitting and eating makes my heart lighter" - Ms. Tram said, her eyes lit up with joy. In the mountainous commune of Khe Tre, the joy of welcoming Spring in a new house is also spreading to Ms. Nguyen Thi Khuyen's family. Just a few months ago, during the October 2025 flood, the house and all the assets accumulated for her and her husband's life were swept away by the water overnight. When they returned, they were only left with piles of rubble and a few broken bowls left. In the midst of a seemingly deadlock, Ms. Khuyen's family received information about being allocated land and supported to build a new house in the resettlement area. Just over a month later, the new house was completed. " This Tet is okay" - Ms. Khuyen shared. Those new roofs were built from the sweat, effort and spirit for the people of officers and soldiers of the Military Command and Hue City Police in the Quang Trung Campaign. For more than 1 month, the forces worked from early morning to late at night, throughout the holidays, in time to hand over houses to people to celebrate Tet.
Spring has arrived before Tet
In Quang Tri, the joy of settling down also came to families who used to live in danger. In mid-November 2025, prolonged rains caused serious landslides behind Ms. Nguyen Thi Thuong's house (village 2, Khe Sanh commune). The taluy land was deeply hollowed out, directly threatening the safety of the whole family, forcing her and her relatives to evacuate urgently. Ms. Thuong's family is in difficult circumstances, and their livelihood mainly relies on freelance labor. Grasping that situation, the Khe Sanh Commune Fatherland Front Committee directly visited, encouraged and connected support resources. After field surveys, local authorities determined that the old house location was no longer safe and had to be relocated. From the support of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Quang Tri province and the joint efforts of units, Ms. Thuong's family was supported with funds to build a new house.
On December 17, 2025, the house was officially started. Local forces coordinated with Division 968 to organize urgent construction, working day and night, including during holidays and Tet. In less than a month, the new house was completed and on January 10, 2026, Ms. Thuong's family officially moved in. "I still feel like I'm dreaming. Spring has come to my family before Tet" - Ms. Thuong said emotionally. For her, the new home not only helps her family settle down, but is also a spiritual support to start over after the natural disaster.
