From the initiative of the labor newspaper and the Golden Heart Social Charity Fund
With the initiative of Lao Dong Newspaper and the Golden Heart Social Charity Fund, since the Lunar New Year At Mui in 2015, the Tet Sum Vay Program has been organized on a large scale by the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor. The program was established to meet practical requirements, continue to innovate content and methods of operation according to the motto of focusing on the grassroots, at the grassroots, for union members and workers, diversify forms of gathering union members and workers.
Since then, every year, based on the policy of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor, the direction of local Party committees, authorities, and units on activities to care for Tet for union members and workers, 100% of provincial and municipal Labor Federations, Central Industry Trade Unions and equivalent, General Trade Unions under the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor, and grassroots trade unions (localities and units) have organized activities to care for Tet and the Tet Sum Vay Program.
From 2015 to 2024, 186,944 programs have been organized at all levels of trade unions, attracting over 33 million cadres, union members, and workers to participate and receive gifts. At the program, more than 26.2 million union members and workers in difficult circumstances were cared for and given gifts with a total amount of over VND 10,617 billion, of which nearly VND 5,847 billion was mobilized from socialized sources (accounting for 55%).
Ms. Pham Thi Hang - a worker in Thang Long Industrial Park, who has been participating in the Tet Sum Vay program for 3 consecutive years - choked up as she said: "No one wants to have their name on the difficult list every year to come to the Tet Sum Vay program. But this is truly a program that our workers want, because the support received - whether it is cash, candy or a bus ticket - all help us save a part of the Tet expenses.
The union members and workers present at the Tet Sum vay program organized by the Union are all people in difficult circumstances, so each support gift or shopping voucher supported by the Union is very meaningful. With the expectations of union members and workers, the Trade Union organization will certainly continue to innovate the Tet Sum Vay program, so that union members and workers can have a warm joy during the traditional Tet holiday.
For those who are far from home and work as workers in Hanoi like Ms. Pham Thi Binh, the free bus from the Hanoi Trade Union is an extremely valuable gift that helps them and their children gather with their family in a convenient and inexpensive way.
Ms. Binh is from Dien Chau (Nghe An), working at Tokyo micro Vietnam Co., Ltd. for nearly 18 years. On the occasion of the Lunar New Year 2025, the couple and their 3 children will be able to take a free bus from the Trade Union to their hometown to celebrate Tet. At that time, if the whole family took a bus, it would cost about 1.6 million VND, while Ms. Binh's income was only about 8 million VND, her husband's income was unstable. Therefore, the free vehicles of the Union have brought her family as well as millions of other workers in difficulty the joy of reunion.
The special thing is that many workers are given the opportunity by the Union to travel on the bus for free by the whole family - from grandparents, husband and wife, children - so they are completely assured.
Those who take a bus home to the joy of 9-10 are also excited to share, because there are people who are able to see their children and grandchildren all year round, especially in the early days of spring, making them even more precious.
Continuously innovating to serve both local workers and people
Every year, the Tet Sum vay program is innovated by the Trade Union organization, supplementing activities suitable to the needs of workers.
From event activities, organizing visits, supporting union members and workers in difficult circumstances, up to now, the Tet Sum Vay Program has had more free trips to take workers home for Tet and welcoming them back to work after the holidays; flights, trains connecting to a strip of the country; Trade Union Tet markets with 0 VND booths...
In particular, recently, realizing digital transformation, the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor has organized the Trade Union Tet online, creating favorable conditions for union members to shop for Tet without having to spend time traveling.
Among the activities of the Tet Sum vay Program organized by the Union, in many localities, the Union Tet Market not only serves union members and workers with quality goods and preferential prices but also attracts a large number of people to visit and shop.
On the occasion of the Lunar New Year 2025, the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor will organize the 2025 Trade Union Tet Market in Hai Phong city. Here, nearly 8,000 union members and workers in the city received shopping vouchers worth VND 200,000/voucher to buy goods at all booths.
The 2025 Trade Union Tet Market has served more than 40,000 union members, workers and people of the city to visit and shop. With a scale of more than 200 stalls, selling quality products and goods, with discounts of 10% or more, it has created shopping opportunities for people in the city during Tet to spring.
Binh Ngo 2026 will have a "Union New Year's Meal" for union members and workers
Continuing to innovate to care for union members and workers, with the motto "All union members and workers have Tet, enjoy Tet", Binh Ngo 2026 Tet, the Trade Union will organize "Union Year's Meal" for union members and workers.
Union Year Meal is an opportunity for workers, union organizations, employers, government and local leaders to share and confide, creating an atmosphere of solidarity and understanding, thereby building trust and attachment of union members and workers to the union organization and enterprises.
According to the direction of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor, the value of meals in the "Union Year's Meal" is 70,000 VND/meal from union financial resources, plus value from corporate sponsorship or other socialized sources (if any, unlimited value). The participants in the "Union Meal" at the enterprise include all union members, employees at the enterprise, representatives of employers, representatives of higher-level unions, representatives of sponsors (if any), invited Party committees, professional leaders...
In addition to new activities, the Tet Sum Vay Program at the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor still has "Union Tet Market - Spring 2026" directly, "Union Tet Market - Spring 2026" online; organizes buses, trains, and take-off flights for workers to return home for Tet.
The Vietnam General Confederation of Labor also organizes the "Union Flight - Spring 2026"
According to the plan, the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor will allocate 500 one-way air tickets and 500 gifts worth VND300,000/gift (cash) to the Ho Chi Minh City Labor Federation, Dong Nai Provincial Labor Federation, and Tay Ninh Provincial Labor Federation to support union members and workers to return home for Tet.
With the "Union Train - Spring 2026", the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor plans to allocate 2,000 two-way train tickets and 2,000 gifts worth VND300,000/person (cash) to the Ho Chi Minh City Labor Federation, Dong Nai Provincial Labor Federation, Tay Ninh Provincial Labor Federation, and Vietnam Railway Trade Union to support union members and workers to return home for Tet.
The Tet Sum vay program has become a brand of the Vietnam Trade Union, not only because of its care for union members and workers but also because of the joy of reunion during Tet for millions of families with couples and children going to the city, going to industrial parks to work and return to the old year's booth, welcoming the new year.
Thereby spreading the joy of the new spring to the whole society.
