Happy Tet with family
Late afternoon on February 2 (the 5th day of the Lunar New Year 2025), Mr. Pham Nhat Cuong (born in 1999, from Ca Mau) continued his journey from Can Tho to Ho Chi Minh City to work after the Tet holiday. The journey lasted more than 6 hours due to traffic jams, but he still accepted it because he had a complete reunion season with his family.
The male worker shared that in 2024, his family went through many storms, his parents' business in his hometown encountered many changes, and he had to work hard to support his family.
When he joined the project, he was forced to move to Ho Chi Minh City to work with his colleagues, so he was also confused.
"After graduating from school, I was lucky to get a job in IT (information technology) at a company in Can Tho. However, due to the nature of my job, I often stayed up late and my health declined. During the first few years of Tet, I was so busy with work that I had little time for my family.
Tet 2025, thinking I needed to relax, I decided to go home early and play until the 4th. On the 5th, I stopped by Can Tho to play with friends until the afternoon before returning to the city. I felt great because I had a peaceful Tet season" - Mr. Cuong said.
Workers share that the IT job market is currently narrowing after several years of booming recruitment and salaries. This requires each worker to improve their expertise and skills to adapt to the job.
"Most students are receiving a fixed salary and waiting for a project to try their hand at. Some people are able to keep up, and some have quit their jobs and switched to other majors, soon having a higher salary to take care of their lives. That's why I'm constantly striving in my job to stay. I hope I can succeed," Cuong hopes.
Dedicated to the sick
The 2025 Tet season is also a memorable season for Dr. Pham Hoang Long (working at Department of Surgery 1, Can Tho City Oncology Hospital) as it is the first year he is on duty at the hospital on New Year's Eve, as well as working through Tet. Perhaps, the work is no different from every other day such as checking the health of patients, handling incidents... But for Dr. Long, being close to people at important moments is extremely precious.
"Most of the patients who stay during Tet are seriously ill, and even have very little time to live. Therefore, staying to work during Tet is not only a responsibility, an assignment, but also a love" - Dr. Long expressed.
After examining the serious patient, Dr. Long returned to the common office to take notes. "We have to learn a lot and improve our knowledge because only then can we be a solid support for the patient," Dr. Long said.
Strive for production
Father passed away, child sick, husband's job went downhill... are the events that Ms. Nguyen Thi Hong Loan - a worker at Tra Noc Industrial Park (Can Tho City) - had to go through in 2024. Ms. Loan's confidences and tears on New Year's Eve 2025 still haunt us to this day.
On the morning of the 6th day of Tet, in a quick phone call before going to work, we were really glad that Ms. Loan's voice was no longer as weak as before.
"I will work hard to earn money to take care of my children. My husband and I will increase production so that we can at least return home a little early next year to celebrate Tet with our family. I wish all the employees of Lao Dong Newspaper a successful working year," Loan told us.
