Helping employees understand the regulations of the law and policies of the company
Mr. Nguyen Dinh Khoat - Secretary of the Party Committee, General Director of Southern Rubber Industry Joint Stock Company (CASUMINA) - said that 2025 is the final year of the 5-year plan period 2020 - 2025, and also the year to organize the implementation of Resolution No. 25/NQ-CP dated February 5, 2025 of the Prime Minister on the goal of national growth in 2025 reaching 8% or more, creating an important premise to create a strong breakthrough in the later stage, especially towards the goal of double-digit growth for the following years.
However, 2025 is also a year with many difficulties for CASUMINA's production and business activities. As a business with export revenue in the US market accounting for 65% of total export revenue, CASUMINA also had a period of being affected by the US Government's reciprocal tax policy when some US customers negotiated to extend, postpone, even cancel already placed orders and negotiated in the direction of reducing selling prices.
In addition, according to the decision of the competent authority, CASUMINA must relocate Dong Nai Rubber Enterprise sooner than expected with more than 200 employees to implement the policy of Dong Nai province to convert Bien Hoa I Industrial Park into an Urban - Commercial - Service Zone and improve the environment. This also has an impact, reducing CASUMINA's output and revenue.
Difficult times like this are also when the company's grassroots trade union (CĐCS) promotes its role and position to accompany businesses to overcome difficulties.
Mr. Khoat recalled that when he had to relocate Dong Nai Rubber Enterprise, many workers here expressed concern and hesitation about the regime and policies when they had to work further away or quit their jobs. At this time, the company's grassroots trade union quickly got involved, promptly disseminating the company's policies, legal regulations and encouraging and motivating workers to switch to working at factories in Binh Duong province (formerly). At the same time, helping workers clearly know the allowance amount according to the provisions of law if they quit their jobs. As a result, many workers continued to stay to work with the company even though they had to work further away, and those who quit their jobs were satisfied with the severance allowance received.
With the correct assessment of the situation, flexibility in leadership, direction, and administration of the Party Committee and General Director's Board, and the companionship of the grassroots trade union, we have made correct decisions to stabilize the production and business situation of the company. CASUMINA's total revenue in 2025 still reached 4,546 billion VND, of which exports reached 2,052 billion VND; domestic revenue reached 2,436 billion VND, and other business revenue reached 57 billion VND. The average salary of 1,750 employees of the company is more than 15.7 million VND/person/month, an increase of 26% compared to the same period in 2024; profit reached 104 billion VND, equal to 110% of the 2025 plan, equal to 116% compared to the same period in 2024. The companionship and sharing of responsibility of the grassroots trade union when the business faces difficulties has made an important contribution to achieving the above results," Mr. Khoat excitedly said.
Dialogue for workers to understand and be attached
Mr. Le Van Minh - Chairman of the Trade Union of Ho Chi Minh City Power Corporation (EVNHCMC) - said that 2025 is a year with major changes in the organizational structure and production and business activities of the unit. Implementing the 2-level local government model and the direction of Vietnam Electricity Group, EVNHCMC has received Binh Duong Power Company and Ba Ria - Vung Tau Power Company, thereby adding more than 2,100 employees, raising the total number of employees of the Corporation to more than 8,400 people, the urban area managed increased more than 3.2 times, and electricity consumption increased 1.9 times.
In addition, EVNHCMC also rearranges its organization, based on existing power companies before and after the merger of Binh Duong Power Company and Ba Ria - Vung Tau Power Company, into 15 power companies directly under EVNHCMC.
In that process, the thoughts and concerns of employees are inevitable. At this time, the EVNHCMC Trade Union promptly organized many conferences for the Corporation's Board of Directors to contact, listen to the thoughts and aspirations and promptly answer the concerns of employees, and encourage everyone's spirit.
“When receiving Binh Duong Power Company and Ba Ria - Vung Tau Power Company, many employees were concerned about regimes, employment policies, and salaries. But thanks to dialogue with the Corporation's Board of Directors, those concerns were promptly resolved, everyone identified EVNHCMC as a common home, so they quickly integrated and worked actively to build and develop the Corporation together,” Mr. Minh shared.
Mr. Quach Man Nghia - Chairman of the Trade Union of Always Company, a business specializing in producing bicycles for export to the European market, mainly the German market - said that due to the impact of the Russia-Ukraine conflict, many countries in Europe are also economically affected, leading to a decrease in the company's products. Many workers have to take rotational leave, even many weeks have to take 2 days off, affecting their salaries and income. Due to income being affected, workers want to quit their jobs to find jobs elsewhere and this is also the company's biggest concern because recruiting workers is currently very difficult in Ho Chi Minh City, especially those who are used to the job.
Faced with that reality, the grassroots trade union has proposed to the enterprise to pay waiting salaries for workers higher than the provisions of law, and at the same time subsidize additional rent of 200,000 VND/person/month. On the other hand, the grassroots trade union also strengthens contact and explains to workers so that they know that the difficulties of the enterprise are only temporary, workers should stick with the enterprise because if they go looking for work elsewhere, they will have to go through a probationary period, the salary can be recalculated from the beginning, there is no seniority bonus, so it is not certain that the job will be stable and the income will be higher. It is from the reasonable and justified exchange and persuasion that very few workers quit their jobs, and the enterprise still retains workers to stabilize production.
In fact, when employees understand the situation, they always share and accompany, and are more attached to the business," Mr. Nghia said.
