On the occasion of the Lunar New Year and the 71st anniversary of Vietnamese Doctors' Day (February 27, 1955 - February 27, 2026), Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh visited and encouraged officials, doctors, medical staff, workers (NLĐ) and patients being treated at Bach Mai Hospital and Viet Duc Friendship Hospital (Hanoi) to inspect the Tet duty work.
In the atmosphere of the last days of the Year of the Snake, the time for family reunions is approaching, the Prime Minister expressed his emotion when witnessing many doctors and medical staff still diligently sticking to the hospital, ensuring smooth emergency care and medical examination and treatment. The Prime Minister sent his deep thanks to the health sector team across the country for their silent efforts and sacrifices, especially during holidays and Tet.

Sharing with patients who had to stay for treatment during Tet, the Prime Minister cordially inquired and wished the patients a speedy recovery to return to reunite with their families.
Through actual inspection at the two leading hospitals, the Prime Minister highly appreciated the spirit of readiness to be on duty and acknowledged "5 improvements": the hospital environment is cleaner; better equipment; more scientific organization; patients and patient families are more excited; hospital reputation is increasingly enhanced. The Prime Minister also praised the solidarity and unity of the collective of officials, doctors and medical staff.
Emphasizing the special role of Bach Mai Hospital and Viet Duc Friendship Hospital - the final and frontline facilities in terms of expertise, the place to "fight for the lives of patients", the Prime Minister requested hospitals to continue to identify this as a great responsibility, pride and glorious mission.

The Prime Minister requested that in the coming time, hospitals focus on improving the quality of medical examination and treatment, promoting digital transformation, smart management, application and transfer of modern technology. At the same time, thoroughly grasp the spirit of "3 no's": not causing trouble for patients; not letting patients be disappointed; not losing the last chance of treatment, even the smallest.
The Prime Minister requested the two hospitals to continue to promote the motto: "Solidarity and unity - Intellectual convergence - Medical ethics spread - Hospitals elevate - Health sector develops - Diseases are pushed back - People enjoy - Country develops", contributing to consolidating people's trust in the health system and the cause of community health care.
Reporting on the 2026 Binh Ngo Tet duty, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Duong Duc Hung - Director of Viet Duc Friendship Hospital - said: During the Lunar New Year days, when most workers are resting and reuniting with their families, at Viet Duc Friendship Hospital, the emergency and surgery cycle is still taking place urgently. The biggest pressure, according to hospital leaders, usually falls on the 3rd day of Tet - the time when accidents and injuries increase.
Statistics from the hospital show that this Tet holiday, nearly 500 seriously ill patients have to stay for treatment. Among them, more than 100 cases are in very serious condition, requiring close monitoring and specialized intervention. In the afternoon of the 30th of Tet, the number of seriously ill patients transferred from lower levels increased sharply. The atmosphere in the hospital these days is always brightly lit. Over 1,000 people are regularly present, including patients and their families.
In one night, the surgical team can perform up to 30 surgeries. The pressure is not only in expertise but also in maintaining human resources, supplies, and logistics throughout Tet," Dr. Hung shared.
To ensure that emergency and treatment work is not interrupted, the hospital has proactively prepared sufficient medical supplies, medicines, blood and blood products. Nutrition work for patients is maintained stably, ensuring a diet suitable for each medical condition.
In parallel with professional duty, the hospital arranges logistics, technical, and security duty. Hospital leaders also divide duty shifts, ready to handle arising situations. Security and order in the hospital are tightened, ensuring a safe treatment environment for patients and medical staff. Two mobile emergency teams are always ready to depart when there are requests for support and relief. The remote emergency duty connection system is maintained, helping to convene and provide timely professional advice to lower-level medical facilities.
Representatives of the hospital said that remote connection is especially important during Tet, when the demand for professional support increases but travel conditions may be limited.
