On April 15, at the factory of VIMICO Company in Song Cong I Industrial Park, Thai Nguyen province, a worker slipped and fell from a height to the ground while working, resulting in serious injuries and death at the hospital. Previously, on April 9, also at Song Cong I Industrial Park, an explosion occurred in a steel furnace at Huong Dong Company Limited, causing 4 people to be seriously injured and one person to die from severe burns.
In less than a week, two consecutive work accidents occurred, causing 2 workers to die, posing an urgent need for inspection, supervision and ensuring labor safety in industrial parks in Thai Nguyen province.
In 2024, the authorities of Thai Nguyen province investigated 27 labor accidents, fined 292 million VND, including 312 workers who had not been trained in occupational safety and health. The investigation of labor accidents has contributed to clarifying the causes of incidents, determining the responsibilities of relevant parties, and at the same time drawing warning lessons, raising awareness and prevention capacity for both businesses and employees.
Timely detection of violations, making recommendations to rectify and punish violations not only help employers overcome shortcomings but also ensure effective enforcement of labor safety laws, reminding businesses to prioritize labor safety, considering it the foundation for long-term development.
Equipping knowledge and skills, especially raising awareness and discipline in complying with regulations on labor safety for employees, not only prevents the risk of occupational accidents. At the same time, it creates a fair and humane working environment, enhancing the trust of employees in businesses and state management agencies.
Mr. Nguyen Van Quyen - Deputy Head of Labor Policy Department, Department of Home Affairs of Thai Nguyen province - said that the whole province has 148 enterprises declaring equipment with strict requirements on labor safety. This shows the proactiveness of businesses in complying with legal regulations.
During the inspection process at enterprises, the factor that is given special attention is compliance with regulations on labor safety, from providing adequate labor protection equipment for employees, to ensuring a working environment without the risk of harm - Mr. Quyen informed.
During this year's Workers' Month, the Thai Nguyen Provincial Federation of Labor set a goal for each grassroots trade union to organize at least one appropriate activity in response to Workers' Month and Labor Safety and Hygiene Action Month. In April, most grassroots trade unions launched a campaign, associated with activities to care for workers.
Speaking with reporters, Mr. Doan Manh Thang - Vice Chairman of the Thai Nguyen Provincial Federation of Labor - said that the provincial Federation of Labor's agencies have joined the inspection team on occupational safety and health at a number of enterprises, organized visits, gave gifts, and encouraged a number of families with victims of work-related accidents.
In addition to caring for, connecting and protecting the legitimate rights of employees, trade unions at all levels are also accompanying authorities to raise awareness and compliance with labor safety of both employees and employers, aiming to create a safe, professional and sustainable working environment - Mr. Thang shared.
