Full meal
On normal working days, Ms. Hoang Thi Huong, a worker at Ha Quang Garment Factory (under Garment Company 10, Quang Binh Province) and her colleagues always take advantage of break time to eat quickly to rest or start their shift. Today, more than 900 union members, workers and company leaders gathered together for the "Union Meal" organized by the factory union.
Ms. Huong shared: “It has been a long time since we had a meal together like this at the factory. Everyone shared stories about life, and we became closer.”
At the end of August, 920 workers of S&D Quang Binh Co., Ltd. also had a warm and intimate "Union Meal". In addition to the cost of the workers' daily meals, the Quang Binh Provincial Federation of Labor and the grassroots Trade Union also provided additional support to improve the quality of the meal.
Ms. Tran Thi Thu Hien, a worker at S&D Company, excitedly said: "Today, the meal has chicken, shrimp, sausage, green vegetables and dessert. Everyone is happy with the attention paid to the lives and meals of leaders at all levels."
This is an opportunity for company leaders and trade unions at all levels to talk and listen to the thoughts and aspirations of workers in work and life. In addition, at each "Union Meal", the Trade Union branches incorporate additional activities such as recruiting new union members, giving gifts to support workers in difficult circumstances, etc.
Nearly 140 million VND for meals
"Union Meal 2024" is considered an annual activity, directed by the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor to be organized simultaneously in 2024. This is an activity organized by the Trade Union in coordination with the enterprise's leadership, contributing to improving the quality of workers' meals.
Stemming from the importance of shift meals, “Union Meals” play a very important role in ensuring better health for workers, contributing to increased labor productivity, helping businesses develop.
Therefore, the Provincial Federation of Labor has supported 139 million VND out of a total of over 4,500 meals for businesses in the province that organize union meals in 2024. The above amount is specifically distributed to the Federations of Labor of the districts: Le Thuy; Bo Trach; Quang Trach; Trade Union of Agriculture and Rural Development; Trade Union of Economic Zones.
In addition, the Trade Unions at the enterprise have proactively negotiated with the enterprise owner to increase the value of the employees' mid-shift meals, with the aim of increasing them every year.
Vice Chairman of the Quang Binh Provincial Federation of Labor Phan Thanh Lan emphasized: "I suggest that businesses and employers need to better ensure and further improve the quality of shift meals for workers; thereby, creating more motivation for workers to compete in production, contribute ideas and stay with the business for a long time."
“Union Meal” is an opportunity for workers, union organizations and business leaders to share, encourage, and create an atmosphere of solidarity, attachment and love.
At the same time, through each meal, leaders at all levels also have time to grasp the thoughts and aspirations, share the difficulties in the lives of union members and workers, and build more trust and long-term attachment of union members and workers to the Trade Union organization and the enterprise.
