Hanoi lacks highly skilled human resources

Information technology, AI, renewable energy, green economy and digital transformation... are the groups of human resources sought after in Hanoi at the beginning of the year.

According to the Hanoi Employment Service Center, in the last months of 2024, the demand for human resource recruitment of enterprises in Hanoi tends to increase as enterprises boost production and business to meet market demand during holidays and Tet.

The retail, service, industrial production and logistics sectors have a strong demand for seasonal workers. For unskilled workers, the labor supply is quite abundant, with average salaries ranging from 5-8 million VND/month. Unskilled workers can receive additional allowances and overtime to improve their income. However, workers also need to be careful in choosing jobs, especially seasonal positions to avoid risks.

According to Mr. Vu Quang Thanh, Deputy Director of the Hanoi Employment Service Center, in early 2025, the labor shortage in Hanoi's labor market will mainly occur in some industries requiring high professional skills or experience such as information technology, AI, renewable energy, green economy and digital transformation...

Positions like programmers, data analysts, artificial intelligence (AI) specialists, and cybersecurity engineers will continue to lead the hiring demand in the technology industry.

In addition, manufacturing and logistics businesses will focus on positions such as automation engineers, supply chain managers, and quality management specialists to meet the requirements of process optimization and new technology application.

Workers with professional qualifications or working in fields such as information technology, finance - banking often propose salaries from 10-15 million VND/month, or from 20 million or more depending on specific job positions. The salary that businesses pay to workers depends not only on the industry but also on the job position, experience, and ability of the candidate.

Information technology is still the leading industry in terms of salary, with an average income of 20-35 million VND/month, especially in positions related to artificial intelligence (AI), cybersecurity, and software development.

The finance and banking industry also maintains high salaries, from 15-25 million VND/month, especially in management or senior specialist positions.

“The renewable energy and green economy sector also promises to grow strongly, with high demand for environmental engineers, clean energy development experts, and sustainable project managers,” said Mr. Thanh.

In addition, businesses in the e-commerce and customer service sectors will continue to recruit heavily in positions such as digital marketing specialists, customer experience managers, and customer care specialists to keep up with the digitalization trend and growing consumer demand.
