Difficulty recruiting workers at the end of the year
In the last months of 2024, Hanoi's labor market witnessed many positive changes: Unemployment rate decreased; the number of people receiving unemployment insurance decreased... but the connection rate between labor supply and demand has not had many breakthroughs.
Ms. Tran Thi Mai - Human Resources Director of MHM Trading Company (Ha Dong, Hanoi) said that the company needs to recruit about 50 positions in the last months of the year, recruiting from the beginning of the fourth quarter of 2024 but up to now still cannot recruit enough people.
“We recruited about 30 sales staff; 5 accountants and about 10 delivery staff, but so far, the total number of people recruited is less than 20. After posting the information for the first time, there were few candidates, so the leaders decided to increase salaries for all positions, but the situation did not improve,” said Ms. Mai.
Assessing the employment picture in the last month of 2024, Deputy Director of the Hanoi Employment Service Center Vu Quang Thanh said: “At the end of the year, some industries have increased recruitment needs such as wholesale, retail; processing and manufacturing industry; banking and finance activities... Through the Hanoi Employment Service Center, businesses register to recruit full-time and part-time workers with many criteria. For part-time positions, businesses do not require much in terms of qualifications but need candidates to be healthy, hardworking, and meticulous.”
Currently, the Hanoi Employment Service Center has received many orders from businesses registering to recruit full-time and part-time workers to produce and sell products for Christmas, New Year 2025, Lunar New Year 2025, etc.
Mr. Le Quang Trung - former Deputy Director in charge of the Department of Employment (Ministry of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs) - said that in the last months of the year, the demand for labor recruitment often increases by about 10 - 15%, in some industries it increases by up to 40% because businesses have to complete signed orders, develop production and business to serve the Lunar New Year and prepare human resources for production and business tasks right in the first months of the year...
“Many businesses, despite applying recruitment measures such as through employment service centers, participating in trading floors, or organizing recruitment themselves, still face difficulties. It is necessary to research and propose short-term and long-term solutions, and at the same time develop plans to attract and use labor more effectively,” Mr. Trung recommended.
In 2025, many industries will continue to be "thirsty" for human resources.
According to Mr. Vu Quang Thanh, in recent years, after the Tet holiday, the labor market often improves when the demand for human resources increases. Many businesses increase recruitment right from the beginning of the year to proactively have production human resources.
According to Mr. Thanh, right after the Lunar New Year 2024, the satellite job fair connecting 9 northern provinces had nearly 50,000 job positions in all fields and industries. Thus, job opportunities for workers are very open. It is expected that after the Lunar New Year 2025, the job fairs will also be quite active.
According to forecasts from labor recruitment consulting units, at the end of 2024 and the beginning of 2025, many businesses will have labor recruitment needs focusing on the fields of part-time work, services, logistics, construction, information technology...
“In 2025, many industries will continue to be “thirsty” for human resources. The business and sales sectors will be the priority recruitment targets of enterprises. In addition, IT - software, although demand has decreased slightly, is still in the group of industries “thirsty” for human resources... It is forecasted that some industries will have high recruitment needs such as: Wholesale and retail up 4.5%; processing and manufacturing industry up 5%; banking and finance and insurance activities up 3%... “Currently, enterprises have high recruitment targets with two segments: full-time workers and part-time workers,” said Mr. Vu Quang Thanh.
