On October 9, a working delegation including leaders of the Department of Industry and Trade and the Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs worked with Chang Chun Vina Company Limited (suffering from a factory fire); Tan Phuoc Thinh Investment and Construction Joint Stock Company (investor of An Ngai Industrial Park, Long Dien District) on the impact on production, business and employment of workers.
Mr. Chang Young Jun - Director of Hwaseung Vina Co., Ltd. (parent company of Chang Chun Vina) said that on October 9, 90.5% of employees returned to work as usual.
The company representative informed that recently, workers had to temporarily stop working to serve the investigation and verification work of the authorities. The fire area has been blocked off, awaiting official conclusions; and the company has just been reconnected with electricity at around 7:00 p.m. on October 8 so that it can resume operations on October 9.
"Normally, only about 95% of workers are working, so this is almost full. The rest are warehouse staff, temporarily laid off because the area has been locked down and no jobs have been arranged," Mr. Chang informed.
According to Mr. Chang Young Jun, the company will try to ensure that the income of the workers is not affected. For now, the two days of work stoppage will be counted as annual leave for the workers, so the workers' salaries will also be guaranteed.
The company also plans to transfer raw materials from other factories to Chang Chun Vina to ensure production activities in the coming days. At the same time, it will quickly organize the import of new raw materials to serve year-end orders.
"We hope to quickly fix the problem to quickly resume operations, both to meet year-end orders and to ensure jobs and income for workers," said Mr. Chang Young Jun.
Mr. Pham Van Triem - Director of Tan Phuoc Thinh Investment and Construction Joint Stock Company - said that because Chang Chun Vina Company's factory area was on fire and is currently being blocked off for investigation, they are ready to support the area so that this unit can temporarily gather raw materials for production.
"We will work with the business to calculate and prepare materials before starting to rebuild the burned factory area when the authorities lift the blockade. It is estimated that it will take about 3 months to complete the new factory," Mr. Triem informed.
