Hundreds of miners return to TKV after many years of leaving the profession

In the first months of 2026, hundreds of miners have completed re-recruitment procedures to continue to stick with the profession after many years of working elsewhere. Some have returned to the mining profession after decades of separation.

After nearly 10 years of leaving the mining profession, experiencing many different jobs, Mr. T.T. K, from Tuyen Quang, decided to return to the mining profession in March 2026.

Returning to his old profession, he quickly caught up with the job. In the first three months, his income reached 32.7 million VND, 27.9 million VND and 30.9 million VND respectively.

After graduating from Vietnam National College of Coal - Minerals, from 2020, Mr. S.A.N, from a remote Northwest village, came to work at Nui Beo Coal Joint Stock Company. More than 4 years of attachment to the profession, stable income helped him have the conditions to accumulate and take care of his family. The desire to work near his hometown made him resign to return to his locality.

However, the job in his hometown was not as expected. Low income, unstable jobs, made life difficult. He decided to return to Than Nui Beo.

Mr. T and Mr. N are not isolated cases. In the first 6 months of 2026, the entire Vietnam National Coal - Mineral Industries Holding Corporation Limited (TKV) had more than 227 coal miners re-recruited after a period of resignation for many reasons. Some people have only been away from the profession for a few years, but some have left the mine for nearly a decade.

At Quang Hanh Coal Company, there are 31 re-recruited miners; Ha Long Coal 28 people; Mao Khe Coal 20 people; Nui Beo Coal 19 people; Thong Nhat Coal 18 people; Khe Cham Coal 17 people and Hon Gai Coal 10 people. The common point of the returns is that after experiencing many different jobs, workers realize the value of a profession with good income, stable jobs and long-term care policies.

Not only creating jobs, TKV units also proactively support workers for re-recruitment. Procedures are resolved quickly, skilled people are arranged jobs suitable to their capacity and experience. At some companies, re-recruiters are supported with 5 million VND/person if they work for at least 3 months.

According to Mr. Nguyen Tien Nhuong - Chairman of the Trade Union of Nui Beo Coal Joint Stock Company - one of the reasons why miners returned is that when their family circumstances have stabilized, they no longer have to stay in their hometowns regularly. Meanwhile, jobs in the locality are often unstable, and income is significantly lower than TKV.

For coal mining units, re-recruited labor is an important source of supplementation when recruiting new miners faces difficulties. Thanks to experience and skills, they can quickly meet production requirements.
