34 delegations of Party and State leaders visit and encourage workers
Ms. Thai Thu Xuong - Vice President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labour - said that the activities in Workers' Month and Action Month on Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) in 2026 are organized practically, strongly oriented towards grassroots levels, taking union members and workers as the center, continuing to affirm the role of the Vietnam Trade Union organization in representing, caring for, and protecting the legitimate and lawful rights and interests of union members and workers; creating a positive spread in the political system, business community and the whole society.
Implementing the Party and State's policy on caring for the material and spiritual life of workers and people in difficult circumstances on the occasion of the 51st anniversary of the Liberation of the South, national reunification (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2026) and International Labor Day May 1st, the Politburo and the Secretariat have paid attention to leading and directing the organization of central working delegations to visit, encourage, and give gifts to workers.
The VGCL has advised and coordinated to organize 34 working delegations of Party and State leaders to visit, encourage, and give gifts to union members and workers in difficult circumstances in localities, sectors and businesses with a total support budget of nearly 10 billion VND.
On April 27, General Secretary and President To Lam and the working delegation visited and encouraged workers and laborers at Dinh Hoa Social Housing Area (Chanh Hiep ward, Ho Chi Minh City), thereby showing the deep concern of the Party and State leaders for workers and the Trade Union organization, contributing to encouraging the spirit of labor and production emulation, raising the sense of responsibility and the belief of workers in the leadership of the Party, State and Trade Union organization.
Implementing Resolution No. 02-NQ/TW of the Politburo and Resolution of the 11th Vietnam Fatherland Front Congress, trade union levels have implemented the "May Dialogue" Program, the "Union Members Contributing Opinions to Building Vietnam Trade Unions in the New Era" Forum, along with many meetings and direct dialogues between union members and workers with Party committees, authorities, employers and trade union organizations.
According to reports, trade union levels have organized 14,197 dialogues and forums with the participation of over 1 million union members and workers; received 20,742 opinions and recommendations; coordinated to resolve 18,413 recommendations; and 1,983 recommendations are still being coordinated to resolve" - Ms. Thai Thu Xuong informed.
Over 25 billion VND to support workers and their families
During Workers' Month 2026, trade union levels coordinated with employers to organize the "Thank you workers" program at 6,265 units, with 820,247 turns of union members and workers benefiting; visiting and supporting 281,919 turns of people; health check-ups for 1,374,299 union members and workers. Trade union levels also promoted legal advice, social insurance, health insurance; supported the new construction and repair of "Trade Union Shelter" houses and launched the Social Housing project in the Quang Ngai Trade Union Facilities Area in Tho Phong commune.
Many grassroots trade unions coordinate with employers to organize dialogues, improve the quality of lunch meals, improve working conditions and supplement welfare policies to protect workers' health.
Some new and effective care models continue to be implemented and replicated, according to target groups combined with mobilizing social resources and bringing care activities directly to businesses and workers' workplaces. The "Trade Union Meals", "Workplace Meals - Connecting Love" programs are implemented in 5,120 units.
In which, the Coal - Mineral Trade Union organized "Trade Union Meals" for 25,024 workers, with additional support funds of nearly 1.5 billion VND; in Ha Tinh province, there are 100 grassroots trade unions coordinating with professional departments to organize trade union meals; 95 grassroots trade unions negotiated with businesses to improve the quality of lunch meals for workers from 30,000-40,000 VND/meal...
Some units have innovated care forms suitable to the specific characteristics of office workers when organizing the "Trade Union Fair", bringing essential products and necessities to workplaces, creating a space for exchange, sharing and bringing meaningful experiences to workers.
