The persistent journey of sowing seeds of knowledge
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Le Thi Thu Ha, born in 1978, is currently a senior lecturer in the Department of Mining Geography (University of Mining - Geology).
During more than 20 years of working at the University of Mining and Geology, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Le Thi Thu Ha went from contract staff, teaching internships... to becoming Deputy Head of the Department of Mining Geography, Faculty of Geography - Cartography and Land Management (University of Mining and Geology).
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Le Thi Thu Ha shared that, for her personally, "lecturing is not just about imparting knowledge, but a process of fostering thinking, personality and professional bravery for learners.
Also because of this, for more than 20 years of teaching, she has directly guided many generations of students in geodesy and mapping engineering to grow up. Geodesy and mapping engineering is a special technical field, requiring absolute accuracy, spatial thinking and solid professional bravery, but those requirements do not "make it difficult" for Assoc. Prof. Dr. Le Thi Thu Ha. To meet the increasing demands of the profession, she constantly studies, cultivates and improves her knowledge, completed her research program in 2016 and was recognized as a Associate Professor in 2024.
With a serious, dedicated, disciplined and responsible working spirit, in 5 years (2020-2025), Assoc. Prof. Dr. Le Thi Thu Ha has successfully guided nearly 30 graduate students to successfully defend their master's thesis and has been awarded a master's degree in geodesy and mapping engineering. The volume of university and postgraduate teaching in the last 5 academic years of Assoc. Prof. Dr. Le Thi Thu Ha always reached 2-3 times the standard teaching hours of university lecturers.
Scientific research – the mark of persistent intellectual labor
Accompanying the teaching and scientific research career is the overarching source throughout the career journey of Assoc. Prof. Dr. Le Thi Thu Ha.
With more than 20 years of attachment to science, she has chaired and participated in many state-level, ministerial and grassroots-level research topics, focusing on key research directions such as applying geospace technology, remote sensing and GIS in monitoring resources and environment, adapting to climate change, spatial planning to serve smart urban construction and management; integrating new technologies in geodesy work to serve mining work.

A prominent mark in her scientific career is the patent for the work: "Process of building a 3D geographical spatial database for smart cities using geospace technology" - the result of 5 years of persistent research, clearly demonstrating the ability to master technology, innovative thinking and the ability to link scientific research with practical management requirements, modern and sustainable urban development.
The invention refers to the method of building a 3D geographical spatial database to serve the national digital transformation in planning and building smart city chains in Vietnam. The invention process helps managers and authorities of new provinces and cities of Vietnam save human resources costs and maximize the modern geo-space technologies that Vietnam is mastering.
Not only stopping at research topics, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Le Thi Thu Ha is also the author and co-author of many monographs and reference books published by reputable domestic and international publishers; and has many scientific works published in international journals... Her works focus on major issues such as: Building a 3D urban geographical space database, topsoil/land use changes, urbanization, climate change, mining environment, monitoring changes in natural resources - areas of practical significance for the sustainable development of the country.
Not only a lecturer and scientist, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Le Thi Thu Ha is also an active and responsible union member, always accompanying the Trade Union organization in emulation movements for good labor, creative labor, and building a humane and united working environment.
When participating in trade union activities at school, I actively respond to the emulation movement "good teaching - good learning"; participate in social/charitable campaigns; build school culture; exercise the right/responsibility to supervise, dialogue, and protect the legitimate rights of workers," Assoc. Prof. Dr. Le Thi Thu Ha shared.
In more than 23 years as a lecturer at the University of Mining and Geology, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Le Thi Thu Ha has achieved many achievements: 2 certificates of merit from the Minister of Education and Training; many certificates of merit from the Rector of the University of Mining and Geology; many certificates of merit from the Party Committee of the University of Mining and Geology for Party members who excellently complete their tasks; many consecutive years of achieving the title "Good at state affairs, good at housework" awarded by the Trade Union of the University of Mining and Geology. In 2025, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Le Thi Thu Ha is one of 12 typical women, honored at the Vietnam Women's Award in 2025.
