According to statistics compiled by the Thai Binh Provincial Federation of Labor, during the recent storm No. 3, about 1,168 union members and employees were temporarily out of work because businesses stopped production to repair damaged factories, and 73 workers had their roofs blown off and needed to be repaired. One union member was seriously injured and had to be hospitalized.
Ms. Pham Thi Thang - Vice President of Thai Binh Provincial Federation of Labor - said that in the face of the above situation, all levels of the provincial Union have visited, encouraged and given gifts to union members and workers with a total support amount of nearly 800 million VND.
Previously, leaders of the Provincial Federation of Labor went to Hoa Cuong Infrastructure Construction and Materials Company Limited (Quynh Phu district) to give gifts to 36 union members and employees who had to stop working for more than 14 days so that the company could overcome the consequences caused by storm No. 3.
In Vu Thu district, the Vu Thu district Labor Federation awarded 15 million VND to 7 union members and workers whose houses were damaged or lost their roofs and were injured and treated at hospitals; and 6.5 million VND to 13 union members and workers whose property was damaged by the storm belonging to the following grassroots unions: Creative Source Vietnam Co., Ltd.; Maxport Limited Co., Ltd. Thai Binh branch; Omely Food Joint Stock Company; Jeil Jersey Vina Co., Ltd.; Spectre Vietnam Garment Technology Co., Ltd. and Tan Phong Kindergarten.
In addition, on the occasion of giving gifts to union members and workers affected by storm No. 3 in Quynh Phu district, the National Assembly Delegation of Thai Binh province gave 100 gifts to union members and workers in difficult circumstances in this district.
Supported by the Union due to the impact of storm No. 3, Mr. Hoang Van Sang - a worker at Creative Source Vietnam Co., Ltd. (in Minh Lang Industrial Cluster, Vu Thu District) - shared: “After being informed by the Union about the support due to the impact of storm No. 3, I reported the damage to my family. Storm No. 3 collapsed the shack in front of my house and blew off the corrugated iron roof of my house.
With the support of the Vu Thu District Labor Federation and my family's savings, I have temporarily repaired the damaged roof. I am very grateful and appreciate the support of the Labor Union at all levels during such difficult times. Up to now, the damage to my family has been basically overcome."
