The meaning of the Trade Union
Since 1995 until now, for nearly 30 years, every August, hundreds of families of union members and workers whose children have overcome difficulties and studied well have eagerly awaited the scholarship named after the outstanding children of their hometown An Giang - Uncle Ton. Because behind the material gift is the deep affection of the Trade Union organization.
With a scholarship of 1 - 2 million VND for students from primary to high school, CSTDT not only helps parents reduce their financial burden but also motivates them. As Trinh Ngoc Doan Trang (Nguyen Hien High School, An Giang) emotionally shared: "This is a great source of encouragement, helping me to make more efforts in my studies and my family to ease the difficulties at the beginning of the school year".
That is also the common feeling of more than 2,100 students who have received scholarships over the past 29 years - the green shoots cared for by the hearts of the Trade Union organization.
More than a gift
After 29 times, more than 2,100 scholarships have been awarded with the total amount of over 2 billion. And this figure will accelerate in the 30th. "Through discussion, we agreed to raise the scholarship norms of all 3 levels," said Mr. Nguyen Huu Giang - Permanent Vice Chairman of An Giang Provincial Labor Federation, Vice Chairman of the Board of Management of HBTDDT - shared. At the same time, the number of "relay gifts to school" also increased. This is considered as the outstanding effort of An Giang College Organization towards double effects: Practically celebrating 50 years of liberation of the South, reunification of the country, 137 years of birth of President Ton Duc Thang, 30 years of HBTDT.
And more especially, it will create new motivation for children of union members and workers to respond to the call for lifelong learning of General Secretary To Lam, Mr. Giang added.
Understanding the difficulties of union members and workers due to reduced or unemployed workers in the context of many economic challenges, the An Giang Provincial Federation of Labor and the Fund Management Board are determined to increase care for the children of workers' education.
Faced with the pressure of limited funding sources, the Provincial Federation of Labor has both maximized its internal resources from union finances and proactively mobilized more social resources from units and localities with good relationships such as the Ho Chi Minh City Federation of Labor, enterprises, banks, etc. At the same time, directed trade unions at all levels to promote socialization and expand funding mobilization to join hands in implementing this goal.
Not only focusing on improving quality, the An Giang Provincial Federation of Labor also builds a convenient and practical method of awarding scholarships to recipients. Instead of gathering in large numbers, for many years now, the Provincial Federation of Labor has only organized a ceremony to give to children of union members and workers working at affiliated units in Long Xuyen City; the rest has been handed over to the local union.
According to Mr. Giang, the scholarship awarding was solemnly organized, demonstrating the concern of the Trade Union organization for children and families, and at the same time recognizing the companionship of philanthropists. This approach not only motivates students to study but also contributes to spreading the meaning of humanity, attracting more and more sustainable support joints.
