More than 178 billion VND late payment of social insurance in Binh Thuan

Binh Thuan - By the end of September 2024, many employers in the province were late in paying social insurance, health insurance, and unemployment insurance with an amount of more than 178 billion VND.

On October 9, news from the Social Insurance of Binh Thuan province said that by the end of September 2024, the amount of late payment of social insurance, health insurance (HI), and unemployment insurance (UI) that had to be collected in the province was more than 178 billion VND, down 17% compared to the previous month. Of which, the amount of late payment of social insurance alone was more than 171 billion VND.

From this, it can be seen that many employers in Binh Thuan province have not fulfilled their responsibility to pay social insurance, health insurance, and unemployment insurance monthly as prescribed, causing the amount of late payment to be prolonged. This causes difficulties for the social insurance sector in collecting social insurance, health insurance, and unemployment insurance and directly affects the rights of workers. If this is not promptly resolved, it will lead to strikes, collective work stoppages, and large gatherings of workers, affecting security and order in the locality.

To overcome the situation of late payment and appropriation of social insurance, health insurance and unemployment insurance premiums by employers in the province, at the end of September, the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee sent a proposal to relevant departments, branches and units. Accordingly, the Binh Thuan Provincial Police Department is required to proactively take measures to combat, prevent and prosecute organizations and individuals who violate criminal law on the crimes of "Social insurance and unemployment insurance fraud"; "Health insurance fraud"; "Crime of evading payment of social insurance, health insurance and unemployment insurance for employees" in accordance with the provisions of law.

Regarding the provincial Social Insurance, focus on units with large amounts of late payment; have drastic solutions to urge the collection of late payment of social insurance, health insurance, and unemployment insurance. Strengthen surprise specialized inspections, strictly handle violations of the law on social insurance, health insurance, and unemployment insurance to promptly overcome the situation of late payment and evasion of payment. For units showing signs of evasion of social insurance, health insurance, and unemployment insurance as prescribed in Article 216 of the Penal Code, complete the records and documents to recommend the investigation agency to prosecute according to the provisions of law.

Binh Thuan Provincial Labor Federation strengthens coordination and supervision of enterprises' activities in implementing policies and laws on labor, employment, wages, and social insurance, paying attention to enterprises that owe wages and delay paying social insurance, health insurance, and unemployment insurance for employees.

In addition, the Department of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs, the Provincial Industrial Park Management Board, the Provincial Inspectorate, and the People's Committees of districts, towns, and cities are also assigned tasks to urge employers to fulfill their responsibility to pay monthly social insurance, health insurance, and unemployment insurance according to regulations.

In particular, employers in Binh Thuan province must strictly comply with current legal regulations on registration, timely monthly payment of social insurance, health insurance, and unemployment insurance, ensuring full rights of employees. And be responsible before the law if employees file lawsuits about unpaid wages or late payment of social insurance, health insurance, and unemployment insurance.
