Supporting children of union members to firmly go to school
Starting from that spirit, responding to the Action Month for Children in 2026 with the theme "Happy, safe, steadfast children in the digital age", the Can Tho City Labor Federation has synchronously implemented many activities to care for union members and workers' children. From building plans, allocating resources to directing grassroots trade unions to review the right beneficiaries, all activities are aimed at the goal of not leaving children in difficult circumstances behind.
The highlight of the program is a series of activities to support union members' children before the new school year. In which, 2,220 scholarships were awarded to students in difficult circumstances but always striving to improve their studies, with a total value of more than 552 million VND.
At the same time, 200 sets of pens for reading and learning English worth nearly 400 million VND were also sent to children of union members in industrial parks, export processing zones and areas with many difficulties.
Not stopping at scholarships, the City Labor Federation also directed grassroots trade unions to coordinate with businesses to organize many activities for children on the occasion of International Children's Day June 1st and prepare for the new school year. Accordingly, more than 11,000 gifts, including school supplies, books, school equipment and necessities, have been given to children of workers, civil servants, and laborers with a total budget of over 433 million VND.
Accompanying children to develop comprehensively
According to leaders of the Can Tho City Labor Federation, taking care of union members and workers' children is always identified as one of the important tasks of the Trade Union organization and the City Labor Federation not only aims to provide immediate support but also wishes to accompany union members' children in the long term through many practical activities.
In addition to scholarships, trade union levels also organize health checks, psychological counseling, equip life skills, skills for preventing and combating accidents and injuries, preventing and combating child abuse, as well as creating conditions for children to participate in cultural and sports activities, summer activities, family festivals and practical experiences.
We hope that every child will feel the concern of the Trade Union organization, thereby having more motivation to study, train and develop comprehensively. Caring for children today is also investing in future human resources" - the leader of the Can Tho City Labor Federation emphasized.
Along with direct care activities, communication work is also promoted throughout the Action Month for Children. Trade union levels integrate propaganda on knowledge of caring for and protecting children in Trade Union activities, employee conferences; disseminate skills in preventing and combating violence, child abuse and mental health care for children.
A summer has come to an end, and the new school year has begun again. New backpacks, new sets of books, or a scholarship may just be small gifts, but behind them is the sharing, the belief and responsibility of the Trade Union organization to the children of union members and workers. That persistent companionship is contributing to nurturing dreams, so that they can confidently enter the new school year and stand firm on the journey of maturity.
