More than 4,000 women are supported to start a business
The Prime Minister's "Supporting women in entrepreneurship in the period of 2017-2025" (project 939) has been implemented since 2017 with the goal of supporting women in entrepreneurship, developing the economy, contributing to the implementation of gender equality and promoting the role of women in socio-economic development. After 8 years of implementation, the whole city has more than 605,000 members who have been promoted and trained to raise awareness of entrepreneurship; more than 4,000 women have been supported to start businesses, formed 21 cooperatives, 108 cooperative groups and more than 3,000 women-owned enterprises, creating stable jobs for tens of thousands of workers.
Typical models such as "Women with a Green Economy", "Women in Digital Transformation", "Women starting out from indigenous agricultural products", "Women with e-commerce" ... have contributed to spreading the spirit of innovation and creativity, affirming the role and position of Hai Phong women in the new era.
Typically, in Cat Hai special zone, many economic models are born and developed by women from project 939 such as Cat Hai fish sauce production, honey bee farming, medicinal plant plant plant cultivation, natural beauty production, community tourism business... The Women's Union of the special zone supports 35 members to start a business, 2,200 members borrow VND187 billion; organizes many vocational training classes to introduce jobs for more than 2,500 members...
After the merger of Hai Phong - Hai Duong, project 939 continues to promote its role as an important bridge in unifying the model of supporting women in start-ups throughout the area. The success of the Project not only creates conditions for women to start businesses but also arouses the potential and aspiration to rise up, promote the intelligence and bravery of Hai Phong women, actively contribute to the overall development of the city, towards the goal of building a civilized, modern and livable Hai Phong.
Strengthening connections to support women in start-ups
With impressive results in implementing Project 939 in Hai Phong and the whole country, the Prime Minister has just approved the Project "Supporting women to start businesses in the period of 2026 - 2035" (Decision 2415). To effectively implement the Project in the coming period, Mr. Nguyen Minh Hung, Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee assigned the City Women's Union to preside over and coordinate with departments and branches to develop an implementation plan. In particular, the Association innovates support methods, selects startup ideas suitable to local needs; strengthens connections with businesses, banks, and universities to nurture ideas, mobilize resources, and create a favorable environment to help women successfully start businesses.
The Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee also requested the City Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee, mass organizations, along with the banking system, businesses, and industry associations to continue to accompany, support, and spread the movement "Creative women in Hai Phong - Sustainable development". Thereby, helping women's union members not only start a business to develop the economy, but also start a business to create social value, spread the spirit of humanity, and actively contribute to the overall development of the city.
