On the afternoon of May 15, at Ben Tre Gymnasium, Phu Tan ward, Vinh Long province, the Provincial Labor Federation organized the opening ceremony of the 1st Vinh Long Provincial Sports Festival for workers, civil servants and laborers, cluster No. 2, Ben Tre area.
The Congress took place in the vibrant atmosphere of May days, towards celebrating the success of the 11th National Congress of the Vietnam Fatherland Front and the 14th Congress of the Vietnam Trade Union, term 2026 - 2031.
Attending the opening ceremony were representatives of the Provincial Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee, the Provincial Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Committee, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the Department of Health, the Economic Zone Management Board and leaders of many related departments and agencies.
The Congress aims to continue to promote the campaign "All people practice physical exercise following the example of the great Uncle Ho", raising awareness of grassroots trade unions and businesses about the role of physical education and sports in caring for workers' health.
According to the Organizing Committee, the qualifying round of cluster No. 2 Ben Tre area has 774 athletes from 37 grassroots trade unions participating in competitions in men's mini football, women's mini football, women's volleyball, men's volleyball, pickleball and badminton.
The competition events take place from May 15 to 17. Immediately after the opening ceremony, the athletes entered the competition in the women's volleyball, women's mini-football and women's singles badminton events with the spirit of solidarity, exchange, and learning.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Ms. Nguyen Thi Kim Dung - Vice President of the Provincial Labor Federation - said that the congress is a useful playground for workers, civil servants, and laborers to strengthen exchanges and connections between units, contributing to building an increasingly strong Trade Union organization.
Leaders of the Provincial Labor Federation requested athletes to compete honestly, nobly, strictly comply with the tournament regulations; the referee team operates impartially and objectively; the Organizing Committee ensures safety and creates favorable conditions for delegations to participate in the competition.
At the end of the Ben Tre regional qualifying round, the excellent teams will continue to compete in the final round of the Vinh Long Provincial Workers' and Civil Servants' Sports Festival, expected to take place in early June 2026.
