On June 27, the opening ceremony of the Trade Union Sports Festival of the Bloc of Universities and Colleges in 2026 officially took place at Ho Chi Minh City University of Physical Education and Sports. This is a traditional sports festival aimed at connecting family affection and improving health for officials, teachers and employees in the bloc.
Attending the opening ceremony were Standing Vice President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor Ngo Duy Hieu and leaders of the Ho Chi Minh City Labor Federation. This year's sports festival gathered more than 1,000 athletes, fans and referees from 42 units.

This year's sports festival is of special significance as it is organized to celebrate the 115th anniversary of Uncle Ho's departure to find a way to save the country (June 5, 1911 - June 5, 2026), the 50th anniversary of Saigon - Gia Dinh City officially named after President Ho Chi Minh (July 2, 1976 - July 2, 2026) and to celebrate the success of the XIV Vietnam Trade Union Congress.
After the opening ceremony, the athletes competed in 6 sports: volleyball, table tennis, Chinese chess, pickleball, tug of war and tennis. The closing ceremony of the sports festival will be held in combination with the Conference summarizing the activities of the Trade Union of Universities and Colleges in the 2025-2026 school year.

In addition to sports content, the organizing committee also implemented a thematic activity program "Professional Health of Teachers - Identification and Prevention" and organized a "Union Member Welfare Booth" to serve workers.
The sports festival is a useful playground to help physical training, relieve pressure after working hours, and at the same time is a bond to tighten solidarity and attachment between members. Thereby, contributing to regenerating labor, arousing the spirit of wholehearted dedication and building an increasingly strong collective.
