In 2025 alone, the Central and local governments have started construction and inaugurated 564 projects with a total investment of over VND5.14 million billion. This is the largest number ever.
In each project, during hot or stormy days, the competitive spirit of workers at key projects is always clearly affirmed. Engineers and workers not only work with a large workload, but are also pioneers in the country's economic development.
Lao Dong reporters were present and recorded at Dai Ngai 1 bridge, part of the Dai Ngai bridge construction project on National Highway 60 in Tra Vinh and Soc Trang provinces (now Vinh Long province and Can Tho city), the construction pace has always been maintained urgently.
Mr. Trieu Van Toan - Deputy Construction Commander (Bac Trung Nam Construction Joint Stock Company) said that the unit is focusing on constructing T24 pillar - the main pillar of Dai Ngai 1 bridge, with more than 150 engineers and workers working 3 consecutive shifts. Strive to complete all the stakes, about 2 months ahead of schedule to switch to bridge deck construction.
Mr. Toan said that the construction site area is located near the estuary, often subjected to strong winds and tidal fluctuations. To ensure safety and stability during construction, the contractor mobilized large cranes, 5,000-ton barges and a special operating floor plan approved by the investor and the consulting unit, helping to control the impact of the tidal water level.
Similarly, at the Chau Doc - Can Tho - Soc Trang expressway construction site, where the work must be completed on schedule to serve the traffic of the entire area, the competitive spirit of workers is clearly demonstrated through each move. The rains could not stop the workers' footsteps. Under a tarpaulin roof, sometimes eating quickly, they continue working, not afraid of difficulties.
The Chau Doc - Can Tho - Soc Trang Expressway construction site is one of the national key projects, where workers and engineers not only work tirelessly but also face challenges in terms of material sources.
Mr. Phung Ngoc Manh - representative of Brigade 99, Corps 12 - said: "We work in 3 shifts and 4 teams continuously, rain or shine, nothing can interrupt our construction process".
The Chau Doc - Can Tho - Soc Trang Expressway is one of the last pieces to complete more than 3,000km of expressway connecting Lang Son to Ca Mau. This achievement not only exceeds the target of the 5-year Socio-Economic Development Plan 2021-2025 assigned by the National Assembly and the Government but also exceeds the expectations of people across the country.
Mr. To Quoc Hoan - a worker in Linh Trung Industrial Park (HCMC): "I am happy with the completion of the expressways. For me and other workers far from home, the worry of returning to my hometown during Tet is no longer a burden. I also truly thank the workers who have competed day and night at the construction sites. They are an important factor for the country's major projects to be on time. They are people full of aspiration and courage.
The bravery of the trade union organization is affirmed
In the period of 2021-2025, especially in 2025, with a spirit of exciting competition, the Vietnam Trade Union has been affirming its important role in promoting labor productivity and creativity in key projects. Trade unions are not only a bridge between workers and enterprises, but also a strong driving force to help develop the country's economy.
For example, at the Vietnam Expressway Corporation (VEC) - the unit participating in managing and exploiting 5 expressway lines with a total length of 515km, stretching in all 3 regions of the North - Central - South and passing through many provinces and cities - the Trade Union organization is a solid support for 1,423 workers.
Despite the wide and dispersed operating area, specific working conditions, mainly on construction sites, toll stations, and expressways, making it difficult to implement emulation movements, gather union members and trade union activities, while also posing potential risks to labor safety, in recent years, VEC Trade Union has maintained a "fiery" solidarity, care and motivation for workers to overcome challenges, accompanying the progress of major projects in all three regions.
Mr. Nguyen The Cuong - Deputy General Director - said: "VEC Trade Union has proven its irreplaceable role: a bridge of trust, a support for workers and an important contributor to VEC maintaining stability, overcoming difficulties and rising strongly".
The competitive spirit is also demonstrated in almost all places where the Trade Union organization is present with many good, effective and creative ways of doing things.
According to the report of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor, in 2025: Responding to emulation movements launched by the Trade Union, union members and workers nationwide actively compete in labor production, implement more than 186,000 initiatives and applications in practice with a total profit value of VND 17,503 billion, contributing to improving labor productivity, work efficiency, promoting thrift practice, fighting waste, achieving practical achievements to welcome Party Congresses at all levels towards the 14th National Congress of the Party, the Patriotic Emulation Congress at all levels, the 11th National Patriotic Emulation Congress.
The reward work has been focused on ensuring accuracy and timeliness. The 2025 Vietnam Glory Program with the theme "Pride and Aspiration" honors 19 typical advanced collectives and individuals with outstanding achievements in various fields; The 2025 "Outstanding Enterprise for Workers" Honoring Ceremony honors 28 outstanding enterprises in caring for welfare, improving the working environment, contributing to building harmonious, stable and progressive labor relations, towards sustainable development in integration. These are all programs directed by the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor, Lao Dong Newspaper is the unit to implement.
Emulation and reward work in the Vietnam Trade Union system in the 2020-2025 period has had a strong change, from a formal movement to emulation towards real results, with workers as the center. Movements such as "Good workers - Creative workers", "Green - Clean - Beautiful, ensuring occupational safety and hygiene" not only attract a large number of union members and workers to participate but also have a clear impact on labor productivity, work efficiency and product quality.
For the first time in 2025, the Trade Union will organize the "National Creative Labor Festival" - an event that brings together dozens of activities to honor the intelligence, hands and minds of workers. The forum "Promoting the creative potential of workers" within the framework of the festival is a vivid testament to the contribution of the Trade Union in arousing the spirit of innovation and creativity.
In the context of the country moving towards the goal of rapid and sustainable development and in the digital age, the role of the trade union organization in the emulation movement is increasingly important. The trade union is a "companion" to protect the rights of workers but also a "catalyst" to promote the spirit of creative labor emulation, improve productivity, efficiency and work quality.
The emulation movement launched by the Trade Union has contributed to creating a new momentum in the workforce - full of dynamism, creativity and readiness to overcome all challenges for the common development goals of the enterprise and the country. With that spirit, the Trade Union continues to affirm its important position in the political system, as a sustainable bridge between workers, enterprises and society.
