Unimaginable actual market demands
Le Hoai Linh (23 years old, Hanoi) graduated from the Academy of Journalism and Communication in September 2025, currently a Marketing employee in a family company.
In 4 years of university, Hoai Linh participated in many school events as a member of the organizing committee, and went through 2 internships. However, I am not really confident in my knowledge, skills and experience when entering the labor market. After graduating, I found myself still confused, my own knowledge was only a fraction of the actual requirements, Hoai Linh said.

Sharing about the time it took to find a job, Linh said: " quite difficult". I started sharing my CV in June 2025. Some businesses pay lower salaries than last year, some places only recruit 2-3 employees while there are dozens of candidates, so it is very difficult to compete for a position, Hoai Linh said.
Currently, Hoai Linh works in the marketing field. Hoai Linh admitted that when he was in college, because he had not researched the profession he wanted to pursue carefully and was not sure what he really liked, after graduating, he needed more time to find a job than his peers; when he had a job, it took longer to integrate and adapt.
Although not in accordance with expectations and majors, Hoai Linh is satisfied with her current job when looking at the job market at the end of 2025, in the context of many companies cutting staff.
Nguyen Thi Thuy (22 years old, Hanoi) graduated from the University of Social Sciences and Humanities majoring in Tourism and Travel Service Management. Currently, Nguyen Thi Thuy is a marketing employee for a company in the field of functional foods.
Thuy shared that before, when she was in school, she did not have a clear plan for her career or specific employment, only in 4 when she found an extra job did Nguyen Thi Thuy decide to work outside the industry.
"I started out as a tourism student turning to marketing, this was the biggest difficulty I had ever faced. I have to learn how to use tools for work, think about data analysis, all skills are almost re-learning from the beginning, Nguyen Thi Thuy said.

To meet the job requirements, after graduating, Nguyen Thi Thuy continued to maintain her marketing work and registered for online courses on digital marketing to apply immediately at work. I think it is the initiative to take extra classes that has helped me fill the gap in basic knowledge, also proving my ability to work with the company I am working for, Nguyen Thi Thuy shared.
Must retrain
Mr. Nguyen Hoang Minh - Director of Bien Dong Company Limited (Giang Vo ward, Hanoi) - said that his company has 1 recruitment period/year and 30% of the target will be for young workers, accepting even those who are not experienced and skilled.
My company specializes in consumer goods distribution, marketing, sales departments... always needs to add personnel, especially young personnel. Every year, we recruit about 50 people for these positions, of which 30% are for young people, said Mr. Minh.
From the reality of recruitment over the years, Mr. Minh said that young workers have both advantages and disadvantages. The biggest advantage of this group of personnel is accepting to work with a low starting salary, not afraid of difficulties, high learning spirit; the disadvantage is that they are like "white papers": no experience, no minimum skills.
Therefore, 100% of young employees are recruited, the company accepts retraining. According to Mr. Minh, training for young employees not only focuses on professional skills but also adds knowledge about company culture, work characteristics, customer base... "Without training young employees, you certainly cannot work. Every year, after the training season, we "fall" about 20% of the group of young personnel. This number is acceptable, said Mr. Minh.
Ms. Lai Thanh Ha - Head of the Department of Administration - Human Resources of TBM Pharmaceutical Company (Thanh Liet Ward, Hanoi) shared that young workers and newly graduated students are sometimes "fear" of employers.
After decades of directly recruiting personnel for positions for the company, Ms. Ha assessed that, except for 10% of new graduates, young workers who have accumulated professional knowledge during their studies and proactively added soft skills and experience during the extra work process; the remaining 90% are very Naive when participating in the labor market.
The saddest thing is having a financial major, but when I ask a little more about this major, I get confused, my face is red and I cant answer; having a professional in human resources, I give the simplest practical situation, you cant propose any solutions... After many years of disappointment in hiring young workers, we change our thinking: choose the best people and accept retraining, Ms. Ha said.
