Having just been married for more than a month, Mr. Tran Duc Huy (Bac Ninh) is starting his own life with his wife with many expenses to take care of.
Both are workers, with a total monthly income of only nearly 20 million VND, so all expenses from rent, electricity and water to living expenses must be carefully calculated.
Talking to reporters, Mr. Huy said that usually every time the regional minimum wage is adjusted, the salary level at enterprises also changes accordingly. Therefore, he expects the proposal to increase the regional minimum wage to be implemented soon from 2027.
Meanwhile, Ms. Nguyen Ngoc Hien - a new graduate working in Hanoi - said that the current salary is only about 5.5 million VND per month.
This income makes the life of young female workers in the Capital quite difficult after deducting room rent, electricity, water, travel and food.
When I read the information that the regional minimum wage may be increased, I really looked forward to it. Newcomers often do not have much experience, so the salary is still low. If income is improved, it will help us have more opportunities to stick to the city, accumulate experience and develop our careers," Ms. Hien said.
Previously, on the morning of July 16, the National Wage Council held the 2nd meeting on adjusting the regional minimum wage in 2027.
At this meeting, the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor proposed that the National Wage Council increase the average regional minimum wage in 2027 by 8% to 8.5%.
After the negotiation process, the Council agreed on the proposal to increase the regional minimum wage in 2027 by 7.8%.
According to the plan, the average increase is 7.8%, equivalent to an increase of 340,000 to 390,000 VND depending on the region. Specifically, the minimum wage in region I increased from 5,310,000 VND to 5,700,000 VND; region II increased from 4,730,000 VND to 5,080,000 VND; region III increased from 4,140,000 VND to 4,450,000 VND; region IV increased from 3,700,000 VND to 4,040,000 VND.
