Not caring about employees' emotions
Ms. Lu Ngoc Mai is an employee of a large media company located in Tay Ho district (Hanoi). Ms. Mai's company is a partner of many large domestic enterprises and FDI enterprises, so her work is busy all year round. In return, Ms. Mai's income is also the dream of many colleagues.
After 5 years of working with the company, at the end of 2024, Ms. Mai was held the position of group leader. The heavier work and greater pressure were also the times when Ms. Mai realized that increased income could not compensate for the gaps that were present.
One late evening in March 2025, we left the event venue for our partners at 24h. As soon as I got home, I received a message from my boss asking the group to convene an online meeting for 30 minutes to learn from experience immediately. Unable to believe it, I asked again and was confirmed that this information was true. I disagree and report that the whole group is very tired after a long preparation process and the main event night, some friends are still eating late at night on the way home and suggest that the meeting will take place the next morning, Ms. Mai recalled.
What makes Ms. Mai saddest is the next morning, the meeting held directly at the company. As soon as he started, the leader immediately criticized the postponement of the meeting to the next day as "not satisfactory", then instead of encouraging the group to complete a very few "grit" event night, the leader said that it could be done better ...
" Unable to bear the frustration and prolonged pressure, the working environment was prone to criticism, I resigned immediately afterwards. I felt hurt and many colleagues in the group also felt this way. The company thinks that paying high salaries and not caring about the emotions of employees is too wrong, said Ms. Mai.
Mr. Quan Van Hung is the head of the service team of a large restaurant in Ha Dong district (Hanoi). His group of 17 people worked in 2 shifts: 7 for lunch and 10 for evening. The work is stressful because the service subject is a customer who uses alcohol and beer, so Mr. Hung has had to apologize to both the owner and the customer many times when there were situations where the staff were not good at their behavior.
"What I was saddest was that in many cases, there were situations that were not due to my group's staff but the boss was still responsible, fined both staff and me at the end of the month. The incident lasted, more pressure and inhibition work, I decided to quit my job," Hung said.
According to Mr. Hung, with more than 15 years of experience in the service industry, he is not afraid of difficulties and challenges at work, but there are things that are really unsatisfactory. I am most upset that if there is an incident, even if it is not me or my group, or even nothing to do with us, they still throw in and hold us accountable, deduct our salary... This is the reason why I no longer want to stick with it and decided to leave, said Mr. Hung.
The "heart" of business owners is really needed
Ms. Pham Thi Hoa - who has nearly 20 years of experience in personnel administration of a cosmetics business on La Thanh Street (Dong Da District, Hanoi) said that during the working process, salary and benefits are important, but employees also need a safe, civilized, fair and pleasant working environment.
"The risk of employee dissatisfaction may come from the fact that the assigned work does not have specific assessment criteria and does not clearly assign responsibilities. In the process of handling arising issues, the person assigned to handle them is not objective, fair and skillful, which can easily lead to frustration for the employee. All of these things can be overcome if the leaders have heart and vision, Ms. Hoa affirmed.
On the part of workers, Ms. Hoa believes that when faced with pressure, they need to share it with their direct superiors or the human resources department for support. "You should decide at the right time when to continue or leave the work environment that you think is not good to cause harm to yourself, whether it is mental or material harm," Ms. Hoa advised.
