Requirements and expectations
2025 is meaningful for the Trade Union organization because it is both the 96th anniversary of its founding (July 28, 1929 - July 28, 2025) and officially became a member of the Vietnam Fatherland Front. In particular, the union under the Vietnam Fatherland Front is implemented on the basis of the revised Constitution in 2025, the Law on the Vietnam Fatherland Front (amended) and the Party's resolutions on continuing to innovate the political system, streamline the organization, improve effectiveness and efficiency of operations. This is a step to concretize the Resolution of the 13th National Party Congress and important conclusions on building the great national unity bloc, promoting the combined strength of socio-political organizations, and enhancing solidarity and social consensus.
The position of a member directly under the Fatherland Front requires the Vietnam Trade Union to constantly innovate the content and methods of operation, enhance the capacity to represent and protect the legitimate and legal rights and interests of workers; effectively implement coordination programs with other member organizations of the Front. In particular, the Trade Union needs to improve the quality of cadres, modernize the apparatus, and apply digital technology in managing, connecting, and caring for union members.
Trade unions need to continue to coordinate with the Fatherland Front and member organizations to promote patriotic emulation movements among employees, focusing on the Good Workers and Creative Workers movement; The whole country joins hands to build new rural areas and civilized urban areas; Study to improve qualifications and professional skills, master science and technology, meet the requirements of digital transformation and international integration.
In addition, the Trade Union continues to comprehensively care for the material and spiritual life of workers; Participating in building the great national unity bloc. Towards the grassroots, taking union members as the center
The implementation of Resolution 02-NQ/TW in 2021 on innovation of organization and operation of Vietnam Trade Union in the new situation has required trade union organizations to innovate from content to methods of operation. Therefore, trade unions at all levels have strongly shifted their activities from administrative and formal to practical, towards the grassroots, with union members as the center.
According to Mr. Nguyen Dinh Khang - Member of the Party Central Committee, Vice President of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor, to successfully carry out the mission of the only representative of workers, the Vietnam Trade Union determined that it is necessary to continue to comprehensively innovate the organization and methods of operation, creating a solid foundation to improve the capacity to represent, care for, and protect the legitimate and legal rights and interests of union members and workers.
The innovation of the Trade Union organization needs to focus on a strong and drastic change from administrative thinking, direction to service thinking, focusing on the needs and legitimate rights of union members and workers. This is a fundamental innovation step, affirming that the trade union is an organization of workers, by workers and for workers.
The President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor also affirmed that the organization must be streamlined, effective and efficient, clearly defining the role and responsibility, promoting the initiative and creativity of grassroots trade unions - those directly associated with workers. Special attention is paid to developing trade union organizations in non-state enterprises and the informal sector. Promote the application of digital technology and comprehensive digital transformation in trade union activities. Areas such as union member management, demand surveys, legal consulting, welfare implementation, etc. are operated on a digital platform.
In particular, Chairman Nguyen Dinh Khang emphasized that protecting the legitimate and legal rights and interests of union members and workers is the core, continuous function and the noblest mission of the Trade Union organization. In the current context, improving the capacity to represent and protect workers poses an urgent need, requiring more drastic action from the Trade Union at all levels. For the past 96 years, the Vietnam Trade Union has continuously strived to organize activities for the legitimate rights and interests of union members and workers.
