On the afternoon of August 11, the first Conference of the Executive Committee of the Ho Chi Minh City Labor Federation (HFF) took place to evaluate the results of trade union activities after the reorganization period from July 1; comment on the Working Regulations of the Executive Committee and discuss many key contents.
Reporting at the conference, Mr. Phung Thai Quang - Vice Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City Labor Federation - said that up to now, the Ho Chi Minh City Labor Federation has established 141 ward, commune, and special zone trade unions and 9 local management working groups; at the same time, decentralized and handed over more than 22,000 grassroots trade unions to working groups and trade unions of wards, communes, and special zones, facilitating management work.
The working groups will directly guide and manage grassroots trade unions with 1,000 or more union members and trade unions in export-export unions.
The Ho Chi Minh City Labor Federation also piloted the assignment of a number of specific tasks and powers to the ward, commune, special zone and working group unions to ensure smooth operation, not leaving any vacant areas after the reorganization phase. At the same time, training will be organized soon so that the team of union officials of wards, communes, and special zones, especially new officials, can master basic skills and knowledge to serve their work.
The conference also discussed key activities in the last months of the year, including launching a peak emulation campaign to welcome the Party Congresses at all levels; Commemorating the 80th anniversary of National Day on September 2 and the 95th anniversary of the Vietnam Fatherland Front's Traditional Day.
The competition consists of 2 phases, lasting until December 30. The Ho Chi Minh City Labor Federation requires ward, commune and special-zone trade unions; working groups and grassroots trade unions to launch emulation movements suitable for each target group; associated with the movement "Good workers, creative workers" and promoting digital transformation. Each ward, commune and special zone union registers at least one practical project or work.
In parallel with emulation, the Ho Chi Minh City Labor Federation has stepped up care for union members and workers in difficult circumstances, including 18,000 union members on the occasion of the 96th anniversary of the founding of the Vietnam Trade Union; at the same time, prepared activities to care for the Lunar New Year 2026.
At the conference, union officials recommended that the Ho Chi Minh City Labor Federation soon remove difficulties in facilities and finances for ward, commune and special zone unions to operate conveniently; propose solutions to improve the quality of activities of the Workers' Consulting and Support Center; effectively exploit trade union cultural institutions; and support capital for workers.
