Ms. Nguyen Khanh Chi - Permanent Vice President of the Vietnam Banking Trade Union - said that it can be said that currently, equipping two groups of skills including digital Skills and green Skills is the key for workers to increase productivity, increase income and ensure stable jobs in the future, while contributing to the success of the strategy of streamlining the apparatus and digital transformation nationwide.
As an organization representing the legitimate and legal rights and interests of workers, the Trade Union has a particularly important position to become a bridge between employers and workers in training and improving their qualifications.
To realize that role, the Trade Union has launched an emulation movement in the industry trade union system to create a strong change in awareness, enhance the sense of responsibility, the will to be self-reliant, self-reliant and the spirit of patriotic emulation of union members and workers. The goal is to gradually form a creative workforce capable of researching, learning, mastering science, technology and digital transformation, contributing to improving productivity, quality and work efficiency.
The Vietnam Bank Trade Union has launched a digital transformation emulation movement with the following key contents: Emulation in propaganda, raising awareness; emulation in self-study, practicing digital skills; emulation in applying technology in Trade Union activities; emulation in criticism and social supervision; emulation in building collective labor agreements...
To make the emulation movement effective, trade unions at all levels have actively implemented many outstanding activities such as: organizing new technology training, cooperating with professional partners to train human resources. Close coordination between the Trade Union and the profession is not only a formal activity but has become an effective mechanism.
Through the synchronous implementation and creation of a series of programs, the Vietnam Bank Trade Union has truly become a solid bridge, creating positive and measurable changes in digital skills and green skills training.
Through modern e-learning platforms, the Trade Union has broken barriers in space and time, bringing knowledge to more than 100,000 union members and workers. The number of more than 115,000 hours of study recorded not only shows the scale but also shows the change in thinking: from passive learning, waiting for training to proactive learning, self-improvement of capacity. The "Digital education movement" has truly gone into depth, becoming a part of the industry's working culture.
Aiming at sustainable development, the Vietnam Banking Trade Union organized the "Green Bank for Green Life" contest in 2024 - a communication - action initiative with widespread influence, associated with the ESG (environment - society - governance) strategy in the banking industry.
Activities do not stop at professional skills but also aim at sustainable development goals. The contest contributes to transforming ESG awareness from a macro concept into practical, daily actions of each cadre. This contributes to building a "green brand" for banks from within.
Ms. Nguyen Khanh Chi believes that human resource development is not the responsibility of anyone. The trade union, as a bridge, will continue to accompany businesses and workers to fully equip themselves with necessary skills, especially digital skills and green skills.
On August 11, at the headquarters of Lao Dong Newspaper, the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor in coordination with the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI) and Lao Dong Newspaper will organize a workshop with the theme: "Human resource development - a prerequisite for digital economy and green growth". The workshop is expected to focus on exchanging and discussing around three major contents: Re- positionalizing the role of workers in the new growth model; sharing experiences and good models in investing in human resource development; proposing policies and coordination mechanisms to promote sustainable human resource development.
