Mr. Hoa has only one source of income from his job, with no allowances. Currently, his salary is 6.2 million VND per month. "It's only enough to pay for the tuition of two children and some other small expenses," said the commune-level civil servant.
Daily living expenses and food in the family depend entirely on the wife's salary.
With his current salary, Mr. Hoa said he doesn’t know when he will be able to rebuild the old house he lives in with his parents. If he has to buy land to build a house himself, that seems quite out of the question.
Sharing his wishes for 2025, Mr. Hoa hopes to receive additional allowances and soon reform wages according to job positions.
“I hope that civil servants and public employees will also receive fuel support and childcare allowances like workers, then we will be somewhat relieved. I hope that the salary reform will be implemented soon so that we can receive a commensurate salary,” Mr. Hoa expressed his wish.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Mai (30 years old) - secretary of the commune youth union in Thai Binh said that the current salary is difficult to ensure a basic living standard.
"If in 2025, the salary does not increase according to the basic salary, I really look forward to having salary according to job position soon when salary reform" - Ms. Mai said.
At the same time, the female secretary of the Youth Union also proposed a number of practical policies for cadres, civil servants and public employees.
That is, cadres, civil servants, and public employees will receive worthy rewards when they complete their work excellently every quarter. If there are policies to support training and capacity building, public sector workers can develop themselves to receive higher incomes than they currently do.
With her current income, Ms. Mai said it is difficult to ensure her life when prices are increasing. "The price of rice in 2023 increased from 15,000 VND to 20,000 VND, and after storm No. 3 Yagi, it increased to 23,000 VND. Electricity and many other foods also increased, the current salary of 5.8 million VND is difficult to meet the living needs of the family" - the female secretary of the commune's youth union said.
According to Decree 73/2024/ND-CP, from July 1, 2024, the basic salary will increase by VND 540,000 to VND 2,340,000/month.
The National Assembly has decided not to increase public sector salaries, pensions, social insurance benefits, monthly allowances, and preferential allowances for people with meritorious services in 2025.
The National Assembly voted to pass the 2025 state budget estimate with over 89% of delegates in favor.
The National Assembly's Resolution clearly states that from July 1, 2024, the scope of using the central budget's accumulated resources for salary reform can be expanded to adjust pensions, social insurance benefits, monthly allowances, preferential allowances for meritorious people and streamlining the payroll.
