Expanding the relationship between the Vietnam Trade Union and Hungarian trade union organizations

On the morning of June 4, Mr. Nguyen Dinh Khang, member of the Party Central Committee, President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor, received and worked with the high-ranking delegation of the Hungarian Socialist Party led by Mr. Imre Komjati - Chairman.

Mr. Imre Komjati expressed his pleasure at visiting and working with the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor, discussing labor and trade union issues.

Mr. Imre Komjati exchanged information on the political situation, trade union activities, and labor relations in Hungary; at the same time, he said he wanted to learn about building labor relations at multinational companies investing in Vietnam, including the role of trade union organizations.

The President of the Hungarian Socialist Party also raised the current challenges in Hungary in protecting workers' rights against the development of artificial intelligence (AI).

Mr. Nguyen Dinh Khang informed the Hungarian Social Party Committee about the formation and development process of the Vietnam Trade Union.

Mr. Nguyen Dinh Khang said that the Vietnam Trade Union has been formed and developed for 96 years. Currently, the Vietnam Trade Union has 12 million union members. Vietnam Trade Union is an organization representing workers to protect their legitimate rights.

According to Mr. Nguyen Dinh Khang, the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor has actively participated in drafting and criticizing laws related to workers' lives, such as the Law on Employment, the Labor Code, the Law on Social Insurance, the Housing Law, etc.

In addition, trade unions at all levels focus on building collective labor agreements between employees and employers, focusing on the contents of wages, bonuses, working hours, rest time, and ensuring occupational safety and hygiene. The agreements all aim at harmony between employees and employers. The trade union also enhances dialogue in enterprises; dialogue between trade unions with the Government, local authorities... Through the dialogue, many pressing issues of workers have been resolved...

Vietnam Trade Union also participates in the National Wage Council. Based on the proposal of the Trade Union, the National Wage Council will consider the roadmap for annual salary increases to decide. In the past 5 years, the regional minimum wage has increased by 23%...

Responding to Mr. Imre Komjati's question, Mr. Nguyen Dinh Khang affirmed that all multinational corporations invest in Vietnam, the first thing is to comply with Vietnamese law. Vietnam is trying to create conditions for foreign investors through preferential policies, but investors must also comply with the provisions of the law in Vietnam, especially in labor issues.

Together with professional authorities, grassroots trade unions play an important role in coordinating the resolution of arising issues and labor disputes, ensuring the rights of employees in multinational corporations.

The President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor expressed his hope that the Hungarian Social Party will connect the relationship between the Vietnam Trade Union and Hungarian trade union organizations to share experiences and solve new challenges, such as challenges in job loss when applying artificial intelligence (AI).
