To improve the skills and expertise of the occupational safety and health team, every year the Vietnam National Coal and Mineral Industries Group (TKV) organizes more than 20 training courses and many excellent occupational safety and health competitions from the unit to the corporation level.
Most recently, on August 28-29, the Vietnam Coal and Mineral Industries Trade Union coordinated with TKV to organize the 13th Excellent Safety and Hygiene Competition in 2025 in Quang Ninh.

This year's contest brings together 111 contestants, divided into 37 teams from 32 units across the Group. The teams compete in a game show format with 3 parts: Warm-up - Acceleration - Ending.
Mr. Hoang Van Hong - ATVSV of Mining Workshop 16, Vang Danh Coal Joint Stock Company - shared: "The contest helps us collaborate and exchange experiences, thereby going to the unit to propagate and instruct the brothers to pay attention to observing and ensuring safety in each specific job. tunnel workers face many potential safety risks such as falling, blasting drilling, etc., so occupational safety and health workers must always remind, closely monitor and judge risk situations to prevent them in time.
Before organizing the 13th Excellent Safety and Hygiene Competition in 2025, from May to July 2025, TKV member units successfully organized grassroots competitions, with the participation of more than 1,000 candidates, representing more than 6,000 Safety and Hygiene in the fields of tunnel exploitation, open-pit, mineral, screening, mechanics, electromechanics, services, etc.
The contest is not only an opportunity for occupational safety and hygiene workers to improve their knowledge and skills, but also contributes to widely disseminating to workers about labor laws, especially the Law on Occupational Safety and Hygiene; the obligations and responsibilities of employers and employees in ensuring safety. This is also an opportunity for units to review and improve the effectiveness of the occupational safety and health network, towards the goal of safe, efficient and sustainable production.

Mr. Nguyen Van Tuan - Deputy General Director of TKV - said: The work of occupational safety and hygiene (OSH) has always received special attention and strong direction from the Group. Under the leadership of the Party Committee, Board of Members, General Director of the Group and the coordination of the TKV Trade Union, many resolutions, regulations, directives and plans have been issued and implemented synchronously, contributing to raising awareness of compliance with regulations on occupational safety and health, minimizing incidents and accidents in production.
Implementing Joint Plan No. 138 dated April 8, 2025, the Group-wide Excellent Safety and Hygiene Competition is an opportunity to foster knowledge and skills in monitoring and preventing risks at the workplace. Thereby, each worker and employee in the coal industry promotes a sense of responsibility, unanimously successfully implementing safety work as well as production and business tasks in 2025 and the following years.
In the first 8 months of 2025, TKV has organized more than 15 occupational safety and health training courses for over 1,600 staff on risk recognition and incident handling skills; occupational safety and health training for more than 134,000 workers. Special and ad hoc inspection and supervision work has also been strengthened, contributing to making occupational safety and health a self-awareness, a culture in every miner.
TKV has also launched an online contest on occupational safety and health to attract a large number of employees to participate. The emulation movements "Green - clean - beautiful, ensuring occupational safety and health", "High productivity - safety - good income" spread to more than 85% of grassroots trade unions, with many initiatives to improve working conditions, limit occupational diseases, and reduce work-related accidents.
The units have developed a occupational safety and health plan with a total value of VND 870.64 billion, focusing on improving the working, traveling, and transportation environment in the furnace; health care, and periodic examination for over 97% of workers.
