On July 8, Lao Dong Newspaper published an article " dispute over wages at Nam Pan 5 Hydropower Project", reflecting that workers at Nam Pan 5 Hydropower Project (located in Muong Bang Commune, the old Mai Son District, now Chieng Mung Commune, Son La Province) have been owed wages for many months, have to live temporarily at the construction site, and are even constantly threatened and chased.
On the company's side, Mr. Nguyen Van Tuyen - Director of Van Xuan Tay Bac Company Limited said that in phases 2 and 3, the blasting team was at the wrong location, damaging the water tunnel design, and could not fix it, so the company unilaterally terminated the contract according to the agreement.
Immediately afterwards, the authorities in Son La province took action to resolve the issue.

On July 10, Mr. Dinh Van Xac - Captain of the water tunnel and auxiliary tunnel construction, said: "After Lao Dong Newspaper published the article and the Provincial Police worked with the two parties involved, the representative of Van Xuan Tay Bac Company Limited contacted to pay the full amount of 250 million VND through bank transfer to the workers. Since then, the disputes have also been completely resolved".
Mr. Nguyen Van Tuyen - Director of Van Xuan Tay Bac Company Limited confirmed that on the afternoon of July 9, the Company had paid all the wages to the workers, and the workers had also handed over the overturner and truck to the unit. The two sides no longer have any disputes and the construction team and the Company also terminate the contract.
Currently, Son La Provincial Police have also reminded both the Company and the construction unit to properly understand the responsibilities and obligations of employees and employers to fully and promptly implement the labor contract according to the provisions of law; to avoid prolonged disputes affecting security and order in the area.
