Can Tho City workers join hands for the people of the North

Wishing to provide material and spiritual support to the people in the North who are facing difficulties due to the impact of storms and floods, the Trade Union at all levels of Can Tho City has mobilized donations and received enthusiastic responses from workers and laborers in the area.

Sympathy with flood victims

Responding to the call of the city's Trade Union at all levels, the Trade Union of the Indian Ocean Seafood Frozen Factory (Thot Not District, Can Tho City) asked for the opinion of the Board of Directors and organized a campaign to mobilize workers to donate voluntarily.

Mr. Vu Hai Nam - Chairman of the Trade Union of the Indian Ocean Seafood Frozen Factory - informed that so far, the amount of money donated has been more than 100 million VND. According to Mr. Nam, the participation of workers in the donation shows the spirit of solidarity, sharing difficulties with the people of the North as well as the trust of everyone in the Trade Union organization.

As one of the workers participating in the donation, Ms. Trinh Hong Can, a worker at the Indian Ocean Seafood Frozen Factory, emotionally said: “When I saw the information about the damage caused by storm No. 3, especially the heartbreaking images in Lang Nu (Lao Cai), I could not help but feel sorry. The amount of money donated is not much, but I hope it will help people affected by storms and floods overcome difficulties.”

Mr. Bui Hung Thanh, a worker at the Indian Ocean Seafood Frozen Factory, said: “Although I don’t have much money, I feel lucky because I can still go to work. Meanwhile, many workers in the northern provinces have had their work interrupted and their houses damaged due to the storms and floods. Therefore, I hope this money will help to alleviate some of the difficulties and return to work soon.”

“A bag of medicine - A heart”

These days, Hau Giang Pharmaceutical Joint Stock Company (Ninh Kieu District, Can Tho City) is busy preparing 10,000 boxes of medicine to send to people in storm and flood areas.

“We, the workers, participate in packing these medicine boxes completely voluntarily, without receiving any wages. Each medicine box is our heartfelt wish to our compatriots in the North, especially the workers and employees affected by natural disasters,” a worker at Hau Giang Pharmaceutical Joint Stock Company shared.

According to Mr. Vo Thanh Hung - Chairman of the Trade Union of Hau Giang Pharmaceutical Joint Stock Company, this is a program "One bag of medicine - One heart" organized by the company. Each medicine box will include basic types such as pain relievers, fever reducers, etc. When everything is completed, the medicine boxes will be transferred to the branch in Hanoi and distributed to the northern provinces. At the same time, the company also organizes medical examinations and provides free medicine to people in storm and flood areas.

Previously, the Trade Union of Hau Giang Pharmaceutical Joint Stock Company also coordinated with the Board of Directors to launch a donation program to support the people of the Northern provinces among all officers, employees and workers, except for branches affected by storms and floods.

Responding to the call of the Golden Heart Social Support Fund (Vietnam General Confederation of Labor) to mobilize funds to support people affected by natural disasters, storms and floods, the Standing Committee of the Can Tho City Labor Federation agreed to spend 100 million VND from the Golden Heart Social Support Fund Branch of Can Tho Trade Union into the Golden Heart Social Support Fund to support union members and workers affected by storm No. 3 (Yagi) in the northern provinces and cities.
