On March 29, Ms. Nguyen Van Hanh Thuc - Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Employment Service Center - said that statistics from this center in the first quarter of 2026 show that the recruitment demand of businesses in Ho Chi Minh City is 82,762 job positions, while only 52,641 people have job search needs.
Analysis shows that the demand for general labor recruitment continues to prevail. The group of recruitment demand with high school level or below accounts for a high proportion with more than 82% of the total recruitment demand.
In the group of trained workers, the recruitment demand for college degrees accounts for 9.01% (7,453 job positions), university degrees 4.41% (3,651 job positions) and intermediate degrees 3.73% (3,088 job positions). The demand for workers with postgraduate degrees is very limited.
Meanwhile, the number of people looking for jobs with university degrees accounts for 13.08%, 2.96 times higher than the recruitment demand. This reflects the characteristics of the Ho Chi Minh City labor market where many businesses still use unskilled labor. At the same time, it shows a significant difference between labor supply and demand by level.
In addition, the labor market also reflects that businesses have not chosen the public employment service system as a priority solution for finding high-quality human resources. This poses challenges for public employment services in competing to provide quality human resources to support businesses.
