On July 15, the Hue City Center for Disease Control (CDC) organized a conference to deploy the work of caring for and improving the health of workers and preventing and controlling occupational diseases at businesses in the area.
According to the Hue City CDC, the whole city currently has about 2,000 production and business establishments; of which 464 enterprises belong to groups with dangerous and toxic factors with nearly 77,900 workers under labor hygiene management.
In the first 6 months of 2026, the health sector has conducted periodic health check-ups for 31,707 workers; detected occupational diseases for 11,178 people, recording 496 cases with abnormal signs, accounting for 4.44%.
Through inspection of 12 enterprises according to the inter-sectoral plan of Hue City People's Committee, functional agencies recorded many shortcomings. 10/12 enterprises have not arranged medical staff according to regulations; only 6/12 enterprises arranged on-site first aid forces or signed contracts with medical facilities to provide initial health care for workers.
In addition, 8/12 enterprises have not carried out labor environment monitoring; 5/12 enterprises have not organized periodic health check-ups and all 12 enterprises have not detected occupational diseases according to regulations.
Monitoring results also showed that out of 21,483 labor environment samples taken at enterprises, 4,243 samples did not meet the requirements, accounting for about 20%.
Mr. Thai Van Tuan - Director of Hue City CDC said that in the context of the city promoting investment attraction and industrial development, health care for workers not only protects human resources but also contributes to improving the productivity and competitiveness of enterprises.
In the coming time, Hue City CDC will strengthen inspection and supervision, expand mobile health check-ups, improve occupational disease diagnosis capacity, support businesses to improve working conditions, and promote communication and training on occupational safety and hygiene.
