"Small stories" about Labor

Đường Kim Khánh |

I returned to Labor in mid-1995, right during the period of reform and the most intense change. From a state agency to the world of journalists, I did not expect that my life would take a vibrant, sparkling and interesting turn.

Proud of "Labor has stars"

As soon as I returned to the newspaper, I immediately signed an indefinite contract and was assigned to the Trade Union-Readers Committee, headed by respected journalist Ung Duy Ninh, and two journalists Huynh Than and To Thanh as Deputy Committee members. . To this day, I'm still ashamed of myself. When I returned to the newspaper for nearly 3 weeks, I didn't write a single word. Every day, I watched my brothers and sisters hurriedly carry their bags and then hastily return. They diligently wrote on the colored paper. dull brown and then submit it to the department head.

As for Minh Quang, I only occasionally see him appear in a set of pants, sandals, a helmet, a soldier's shirt... I was surprised, thinking to myself: "How dare you" dress like that", later I found out, he "transform" into the roles of gangsters, playboys... to investigate. It was the commitment of him and a number of colleagues at that time such as Phan Huy Ha, Pham Hieu, Pham Quang Hieu... that gave birth to exclusive long-term investigative articles on Lao Dong .

The effect of investigative articles, along with Lao Dong's reportage, has caused newspapers to spread everywhere. Every morning, at the door of 51 Hang Bo, there are many readers reading the free Lao Dong newspaper posted in the newsletter, with illustrious investigative articles by Ngo Mai Phong, Tran Quang, Kao Hung, Duong Minh Duc, Nguyen Trung Hieu, Nguyen Van Sinh, Lam Chi Cong, Nguyen Minh Quang.

Also during that period of innovation, dozens of young, enthusiastic and talented reporters joined Labor: To Quang Chinh, Nguyen Tri Thuc, Quang Ha, Nhat Anh, My Hang, Thu Tra, Duc Tuan and Later, there were Bich Ha, Bich Thanh, Thu Huyen, Luu Quang Dinh, Hoang Lam, Thuy Le, Khanh Hoa, Pham Hue, Quynh Trang, Mai Chau, Vu Minh Hoan... also very impressive.

Social activities - Labor's strong point

"Golden Heart" is one of the famous social activities of Lao Dong Newspaper, launched early and attracted the support of many philanthropists and businesses, including many anonymous Manh Thuong Quan, Supporting unfortunate life situations, poor workers, workers with labor accidents... In charge of the Golden Heart Fund at that time was Ms. Tran Thi Thanh Thuy - transferred from the Economic Department. Not only does Ms. Thuy have a special appearance, she always has 5-6 phones with her (every time it rings, she empties her bag and pours out all the colorful phones on the table to find out which phone is ringing). but also has an extremely soft and skillful personality; Next to her are women with gentle personalities and soft-spoken voices like Minh Nguyet and Thu Ha... That's probably why the newspaper's Golden Heart Fund operates so effectively.

There was an equally famous column in Lao Dong Newspaper at that time, chaired by the writer of this article: The 100-year Friends Club. In 1996, the Club launched with a few dozen members. A year later, the number of members increased to hundreds of people, spread across the country.

Every year Lao Dong organizes 2 meetings and exchanges, the number of members increases rapidly in all three regions, North, Central, and South, the number of couples who get married through the exchanges also increases rapidly, of which, the most famous is still is the wedding of a newspaper photographer with a beautiful girl working at an embassy in Hanoi.

Portraits of "Labourers" full of personality

These people work hard and dedicate themselves, but when they play, they are also extremely happy and special, everyone is full of personality, unmistakable and very lovable.

At that time, Mr. Ung Duy Ninh (Head of the Trade Union Committee - Readers) and Mr. Nguyen An Dinh (Head of the Economic Committee) were originally from Thanh Nam, so they often teased each other. Every time Mr. Ninh got angry with the "soldiers" on one side, the other would Over there, Mr. Dinh "added fuel to the fire" with exclamations that made Mr. Ninh's face turn red and vice versa. I think, if the Trade Union - Readers Committee and the Economic Committee had not been "interfered" by the Current Affairs Department headed by Mr. Tien Chuoc, the two men Dinh - Ninh (now both ancients) would still have teased them. each other more.

Let's talk about the late journalist Tien Chuoc. The uncle is small, but always dressed neatly and very stylishly. That's why the newspaper still retains this poem about him: "Carrying a briefcase in one hand, carrying a camera/ That's Tien Chuoc returning to the village in honor."

Most notably, journalist - writer Bui Viet Sy (author of the work "Between you are two women"). At that time, Doctor was sent on a business trip to Thailand. After the working week, the gifts he brought home for his sisters were eye-catching green, red, purple and yellow su-gongs. Unfortunately, even though there weren't many female journalists back then (Phuong Yen, Bich Hang, Thanh Tam, Bich Ha, Thanh Binh, Kim Khanh, Thuy Phuong, Thu Huong, Thu Tra, My Hang, Thu Huyen, Bich Thanh) , but it's enough to create tension because for small people, doctors give them huge sizes, while oversized people like me are given tiny sizes.
