At Ty Bach Co., Ltd. (Vinh Long province), the name Lam Thi Ngoc Ha has long become familiar to nearly 10,000 union members and workers. In her role as Director of the Trade Union Department cum Chairwoman of the grassroots Trade Union, Ms. Ha always believes that the Trade Union must truly be a solid support for workers. Attached to trade union work from 2007 to now, Ms. Ha has constantly sought practical solutions to improve the material and spiritual life of union members and workers. From small tasks such as improving lunch meals to long-term welfare programs, she has devoted a lot of effort to effectively implement them.
One of Ms. Ha's outstanding achievements is her efforts to improve the quality of lunch meals for workers. In 2018, when taking on the role of Chairwoman of the interim grassroots Trade Union, the value of each meal for employees at the company was only 15,000 VND. Through many dialogues and negotiations with the board of directors, each meal has now been increased to 19,500 VND. This funding is entirely focused on clean food ingredients, while the enterprise invests separately in modern dining areas and operating and processing costs to serve workers.
Not stopping there, Ms. Ha also implemented the "0-dong booth" initiative and a preferential sales program for workers in difficult circumstances. Through connecting with major distributors, essential goods are delivered directly to factories at prices 15% or more lower than the market. According to calculations, these programs help each worker save from 500,000 VND to 1 million VND in living expenses each month. In parallel, many cultural, sports, health care, and tourism activities with a total budget of billions of VND are also regularly organized in the period 2023 - 2025.
Ms. Le Thi My shared that in many years of working at the company, she has always felt the closeness and concern of Ms. Lam Thi Ngoc Ha for workers. Her family was once supported by the Trade Union with housing to stabilize their lives and settle down in 2022. On holidays, Tet, or when workers encounter difficulties, Ms. Ha promptly mobilized to take care of gifts and provide practical support.
