Ms. Lam Thi Nga shared that the work of classifying waste at the Classification Workshop requires high intensity, direct contact with waste that has not been classified from the source, is moist, fermented and gives off a strong odor. Every day, more than 160 tons of waste are brought to be treated, most of which must be classified as recyclable waste. Despite facing a high risk of occupational diseases and work-related accidents, Ms. Nga and more than 20 other workers always strictly comply with safety regulations, completing the entire classification volume, contributing to raising the factory's recyclable waste ratio to about 2.5%.
"I have been attached to this job for 9 years now. Currently, her husband and son also work at this factory. At 9am, they started working, lasting until 5pm. The main job is to directly classify waste, collect waste that can be recycled at the handmade waste classification bang," Ms. Nga informed.
Ms. Nga said that in addition to professional duties, she also takes care of cleaning the factory and clearing the internal roads after each shift. "Working in a special environment, we have to keep it hygienic to make it safer and easier for people to work. Although it is small, if everyone does it, the workshop will be clean, less fragrant, and the work will be less difficult, she shared.
During the process of receiving and treating waste at the unit, Ms. Nga always closely coordinates with colleagues and departments of the Enterprise to continuously operate the treatment lines, ensuring uninterrupted waste treatment and increasingly improving efficiency. One of the outstanding initiatives is to adjust the slope of the conveyor belt to bring organic waste to the incubator.
According to Ms. Nga, in the past, the conveyor belt had a large slope, causing garbage to continuously slide back into the screening drum, causing congestion and forcing the machine to stop for handling. To overcome the above shortcomings, we have adjusted the conveyor belt from 37 degrees to 32 degrees, helping garbage move stably, the operation line is more continuous and safer. The initiative was recognized by the general director and put into application from January 2023, Ms. Nga shared.
By 2024, Ms. Nga's workforce will continue to propose improving the bare trash functor (the department is often congested due to V-shaped designs). "There are times when garbage is stuck, workers have to climb up and show it off, which is very dangerous. If one side of the funnel is extended, garbage will fall onto the vehicle more easily. The solutions implemented help completely eliminate garbage congestion, save time, and reduce the risk of occupational accidents, Ms. Nga informed.

In addition, as a member of the Soc Trang solid Waste Treatment Complex Enterprise Party Cell and a union member, Ms. Nga always upholds her sense of responsibility and is a leader in movements; regularly studies and follows Ho Chi Minh's ideology, morality and style. For many consecutive years, she has completed her tasks excellently, achieving the title of Advanced Worker, Emulation Fighter at the grassroots level...
According to Soc Trang Urban Construction Joint Stock Company, in the past 2 years, Soc Trang solid waste treatment joint venture has coordinated with the collective of cadres, employees, and laborers to apply nearly 37 innovation initiatives and new solutions, helping to operate waste classification and treatment lines, contributing to completing and exceeding the target assigned by the company of 28% per year.
