Giving money to give love
At the beginning of each school year, the Hoa Mai Kindergarten Union (Gio Linh town, Gio Linh district, Quang Tri province) launched a pig farming program for teachers and staff. Every month, each person voluntarily contributes a small amount of money as much as possible to save. At the end of the school year, the pigs are "opted in", all the money is used to support students in difficult circumstances, give Tet gifts and take care of union members' lives.
As during the 2025 Lunar New Year, from this small fund, the school's Trade Union presented 17 gifts to disadvantaged students, each worth from 300,000 to 500,000 VND. Not only that, from the money raised for pigs, the Union also bought ao dai to give to women in residential areas near the school such as area 6 and quarter 7 in Gio Linh town.
"Thanks to raising pigs, women have created a source of funding. Although the amount of money saved is not much, every year a meaningful program is organized. These are gifts containing the affection and spirit of the Hoa Mai Kindergarten Union", shared teacher Le Thi Trang Nhung - Vice President of the Hoa Mai Kindergarten Union.
At the Dong Ha Market Management Board (Dong Ha City, Quang Tri Province), Mr. Hoang Xuan Nghiem - Chairman of the grassroots Trade Union said that women here have maintained this movement for many years. The money collected from the pigs was lent to union members in difficult circumstances at an interest rate of 0 VND, and at the same time, a part was taken away to give gifts to visit when sick and support the children of workers to have better learning conditions.
The movement of spreading, very meaningful
According to Ms. Nguyen Thi Thu Ha - Vice President of the Quang Tri Provincial Labor Federation, the program " Nuoc lo dat - Giao thuong thuong" was launched in 2020 with the goal of raising awareness of thrift and fostering a shared lifestyle in the female union members and workers. From being just a small form of movement, the movement has gradually become a cultural beauty in many agencies and units. Workers not only practice saving for themselves but also together save to help the less fortunate in the community.
From 2020 to present, trade unions at all levels in the province have supported 6,679 female union members, civil servants and employees in difficult circumstances, as well as people affected by natural disasters and epidemics with a total amount of nearly 7 billion VND.
"Rearing dirty pigs - Giving love" is increasingly seeping into the lives of union members, becoming a beautiful symbol of a frugal, kind and united lifestyle in the working community of Quang Tri province.
