The conference took place in a live format combined with online, attracting the participation of more than 1,000 trade union officials, union members and workers at bridge points.
At the conference, Standing Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee, Standing Vice President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor Ngo Duy Hieu directly conveyed the core contents of the Resolution of the 14th Vietnam Trade Union Congress.
Standing Vice President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor Ngo Duy Hieu especially emphasized the requirement to focus on emulation movements for good labor, high productivity, and good income, and at the same time requested trade union levels in Ho Chi Minh City to ignite the spirit of innovation and creativity among all union members and workers.
According to Standing Vice President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor Ngo Duy Hieu, the Vietnam Trade Union organization determined to enter a comprehensive renovation term, actively apply digital technology, strengthen dialogue with union members in management and care for life, in order to accompany the Government in promoting labor productivity - a decisive factor to move towards the goal of double-digit economic growth of the whole country.
One of the important highlights of this term's resolution is the breakthrough change in the operating structure. The Trade Union will shift from spreading out 10 groups of tasks previously to focusing on 5 key objectives. This adjustment aims to optimize the core functions of the Trade Union according to the provisions of the Constitution and the Trade Union Law.
Along with that, promoting digital transformation will help minimize paperwork and lengthy reports. Thereby, creating conditions for trade union officials to have more time to be closely involved and listen to their thoughts directly at the grassroots level.
In particular, the conference paid great attention to breakthrough recommendations on social security to protect the real rights of workers. Notably, the proposal to reduce normal working hours from 48 hours to 44 hours/week. In addition, social housing, especially the model of affordable rental housing for life with state sponsorship, is also proposed as a housing solution for workers in the context of expensive prices.


This conference will not only stop at disseminating documents, but also be a commitment to action from all levels of Ho Chi Minh City Trade Unions in the new term. From there, bringing breakthrough recommendations on reducing working hours and improving real income become a solid social security lever, expected to improve the quality of life for millions of union members in the area.
