In the 2021-2025 period, vocational training for ethnic minorities and mountainous areas under the National Target Program has achieved many positive results. The whole province has more than 5,600 people supported with vocational training, focusing on industries suitable for production conditions and local employment needs.
At Quang Ngai Mechanical College, vocational classes on road surface construction machine operators are attracting a large number of students to study. Most of the students are children of ethnic minorities from mountainous communes in the province.

For them, vocational training is not only to get a degree but also the shortest way to soon find a job and stabilize their lives. When registering to study at the school, students are exempted from 100% of tuition fees. In particular, students from poor and near-poor households are also entitled to additional boarding policies according to regulations. After graduating, students can immediately meet the requirements of businesses.
Dinh Van Hieu (Son Thuy commune, Quang Ngai province) shared that when studying at school, he was exempted from all tuition fees, and was enthusiastically taught by teachers, creating conditions for him to have a stable job after graduation.
According to Mr. Le An - Vice Principal of Quang Ngai Mechanical College, students from poor and near-poor households are supported with about 2 million VND per month and are provided with free dormitories. On average, each school year, each student receives nearly 30 million VND. In addition, students with good academic results will also receive a scholarship of about 9 million VND per semester.
To improve the quality of training, in the 2021-2025 period, the province has allocated more than 111 billion VND from sub-projects 3 and 5 under the National Target Program for Socio-Economic Development of Ethnic Minorities and Mountainous Areas. This funding source contributes to investing in facilities and equipment for vocational training institutions, thereby improving the quality of training.
In parallel with vocational training, early career orientation work from high school is also focused on, helping students in mountainous areas have clearer preparation for the path to career establishment.
Mr. Le Minh Duc - Director of Da Nang Asia Company - said that young people in mountainous communes still have limited access to information about the foreign labor market. To overcome this, it is necessary to strengthen connections to remote areas, promote consulting and career guidance, and gradually open vocational training classes and foreign language training right in the locality.
In the 2026-2030 period, the province continues to propose many strategic orientations to improve the quality of human resources in ethnic minority and mountainous areas. In particular, priority is given to expanding beneficiaries of the National Target Program, developing a network of high-quality vocational schools, promoting digital transformation in vocational education and enhancing foreign language training for disadvantaged groups.
